Apple has announced a major leadership change, appointing Indian-origin Kevan Parekh as its new CFO, effective January 1, 2025. Parekh, who currently serves as Vice President of Financial Analysis and Planning, will succeed Luca Maestri, who has held the CFO position since 2014. Reports indicate that Maestri has been mentoring Parekh for several months as part of a carefully planned succession strategy.
As Maestri transitions out of his CFO role, he will take on a new position overseeing Corporate Services, including information security, information systems and technology, and real estate development, while continuing to report directly to CEO Tim Cook.
Parekh has served Apple in critical roles for the past 11 years and the elevation is the culmination of his tenure with the finance leadership team as a key member. His responsibilities included leading G&A and Benefits Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, Market Research, and Investor Relations.
Before joining Apple, Kevan Parekh worked with General Motors and Thomson Reuters in senior leadership positions. At General Motors, he served as a manager, of Capital Markets NY Treasurerโs Office, from and eventually worked as a Director of Business Development NY Treasurerโs Office from 2004-2007, and as Regional Treasurer, Europe from 2009-2011. While at Thomson Reuters, he served for four years as Vice President of Finance, Professional Division, and Corporate Treasurer from 2009-2013. His career at Apple started in 2013 in the Finance and Product Marketing divisions.
Parekh has a strong educational background that played a crucial role in his rise within Apple as the companyโs CFO. He has a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
