Rajeev Ranjan, Editor, Digital Terminal recently held an interaction with Punit Thakkar, CEO & MD, Shivaami Cloud Solution. He talked about their business model, solution offering, market growth, and targets. Read below the excerpts:

Rajeev: Developing a new business-technology operating model that exploits cloud for speed, agility, and efficient scalability requires a lot of vision and forward thinking. Being in the space of cloud service providers, how do you see this as a CEO?

Punit: Cloud solutions gained importance during the pandemic when organizations were looking for a flexible solution that ensures scalability and accessibility to all. As a cloud service provider, I think cloud solutions are the future of work.  Cloud will transform the way organizations work and think about IT systems. Shivaami with its vast experience in cloud understands this and can help organizations in their journey towards cloud.

Rajeev: Shivaami is a cloud solution company. If you can brief us how do you bring in benefits for org’s which use the legacy emailing and storage solution and want to move to the cloud?

Punit: Clients moving to cloud-based platforms expect to have improved security of their data and grant easy access to files irrespective of the work location or the device their employees are using in comparison to legacy emails and storage solutions. They also look for simpler ways to collaborate, a secure cloud to store files and recovery of their critical documents in case a mishap occurs. Shivaami’s team is directly trained by industry experts and with over 10 years of experience and our partners. This allows us to help businesses simplify, secure and speed up their cloud transformation journey. We offer advice, installations, migration, support, cloud solutions, and everything in between to make the transition seamless and hassle-free. By moving to cloud-based platforms, organizations ensure that they can work from anywhere, anytime. With the flexibility feature, we also provide them security features which safeguards their data and other resources. Shivaami fulfils the basic needs of organizations which is to connect, collaborate and communicate.

Rajeev: Shivaami has a concept that is ‘women on the cloud’. Tell us something about how the idea came to mind while conceptualizing?

Punit: At Shivaami out of the total employees working, 80% of them are women and this also includes the C-Suite level. Women are multi-taskers and ensure that they give their 100%. We believe women need to be empowered to ensure they utilize their talent and providing them with more opportunities to work in a competitive set-up is one solution that we thought of. And so now Shivaami has a major women workforce.

Rajeev: How did you cope up COVID19 disruptions and how did that change “Shivaami” way of functioning?

Punit: The pandemic was without a doubt a very challenging situation for all of us. Especially for companies which weren’t future ready unlike Shivaami. To tackle the unexpected and grim circumstances, the entire workforce of Shivaami started working from home even before the announcement of nationwide lockdown. We equipped our employees with the right set of tools for collaboration and communication so they could keep the business up and running. We got through the tough times without encountering much friction and came up with the best possible outcome for our customers.

Rajeev: The challenges in securing cloud-native applications remain unsolved. In a recent cloud-native application security survey by Snyk, nearly 60% said that they had increased security concerns since adopting cloud native applications.  How do you see the cyber security aspect of Shivaami in terms of confidence building with customers for data security?

Punit: Shivaami through its partners is positioned very strongly when it comes to cybersecurity. All our products or tools are built with a ‘security first’ mindset. Our global infrastructure combined with the drive to innovate enables workspace to stay ahead in the race and adhere to strict security standards to keep all the user data safe and secure. We through our partners like Google Workspace offer the administrators enterprise control over system configuration and application settings so as to be as transparent with users as possible. This helps our customers and their organizations have a robust, state-of-the-art security features ensuring to keep threat actors at bay.
