TP-Link India Pvt. Ltd. has not only maintained its dominance in the consumer networking space but has also made significant strides in the surveillance market in the past year. In this interview, Mr Bijoy Alaylo, VP of Consumer at TP-Link India sheds light on TP-Link's performance in 2023, its expectations for 2024, and the major tech trends shaping the industry.
DT: How was your overall performance in the CY 2023?
Bijoy: CY2023 for TP-Link can be described with an example of the Eagle, which goes into oblivion and then rises back to go up to newer heights. We as an organization have grown and spread ourselves into newer verticals like Surveillance and SMB networking with an astounding impact on the market. Owing to the strong team spirit and support from our close-knit partner we have been able to leave a positive mark in these industries.
DT: What are your expectations in terms of business performance and market sentiments in 2024?
Bijoy: 2024 for TP-Link would be a big leap in terms of numbers where we look to keep dominating the consumer networking space and put a strong foothold into the Surveillance industry (Consumer as well as Commercial). Tapo being our flagship brand for consumer surveillance, we are already a well-known brand in the consumer segment and the newest commercial Surveillance series “VIGI” has been swiftly introduced into the CCTV channel with stable products, stable partners and excellent partner benefits
DT: What are the major tech trends that will dominate in 2024?
Bijoy: IoT is one of the largest growing trends in India. Automation (Both Home & Industrial) is growing for us and we have separated this segment internally as well to increase focus. Still in its nascent stage but this industry still has to go a long way. Integrated with this AI will be the differentiator in all the products. At TP-Link VIGI we have brought the basic AI functions in all the Cameras which is a plus point for us. Even the high-end Routers are integrated with AI functions to give ease of use to the end customers.
DT: What is your current channel strength and how are you planning to strengthen your partner network in 2024?
Bijoy: We are a close-knit family of 67 partners across India for the consumer Networking portfolio and a very small but promising 55-partner base for the VIGI series. At the onset, we always promote long-term partnerships with good margins to the channel partner and strongly believe that this would be at the centre of all business relationships. We are increasing our partners rapidly by getting deeper into the T2/T3 cities to cater to more small partners directly to ensure growth and clarity of business and in 2024 the partner database will cross to triple figures for sure.
