As India advances toward the Viksit Bharat vision, strong digital infrastructure is essential for improving citizen services and enabling future-ready development. Shaurrya Teleservices is playing a key role in this shift by strengthening connectivity across buildings, enterprises, and smart city ecosystems. In this conversation, Rajeev Ranjan, Editor of Digital Terminal, speaks with Salil Ahuja, Chief Strategy Officer of Shaurrya Teleservices to understand how Shaurrya’s digital infrastructure solutions, regulatory leadership, and expanding nationwide footprint are helping shape a more connected and technologically empowered India.

Rajeev: How is Shaurrya Teleservices transforming the digital infrastructure landscape in India, and what sets it apart from others in the sector?

Salil: Shaurrya Teleservices is at the forefront of transforming India’s connectivity landscape by combining regulatory credibility with strong execution capabilities ensuring complete solution. As a neutral infrastructure provider with an IP-1 license, we are committed to providing Digital Transformation Solutions which includes solutions for

1. Mobility through macro and micro towers, In-Building systems, and 5G-ready microcells.

2. High speed Internet Data connectivity through neutral FTTH networks.

3. Through our partner associations, we also offer security, data center, cloud and many value added solutions.

What differentiates us is our dual positioning as one of India’s first TRAI-empaneled Digital Connectivity Rating Agencies (DCRAs) and as a complete digital infrastructure solution partner that enables developers to improve their digital ratings.

We have been growing over 100% and projected to have over 1000 towers, 50 million sq. ft. of in-building coverage, and 200,000+ homepasses with over 100 Shaurryans across India. Our mission is to make digital connectivity as essential and reliable as water and electricity, helping India’s built environment become future-ready, resilient, and globally competitive.

Rajeev: Could you share what it means for Shaurrya Teleservices being empanelled by TRAI as one of India’s first DCRAs?

Salil: Being empanelled by TRAI among India's initial DCRAs is both a privilege and a responsibility. It marks national recognition of our expertise and commitment to enabling digitally-ready real estate. As part of this role, we will assess properties on parameters like fiber readiness, in-building coverage, broadband quality, and IoT integration, assigning them star ratings based on TRAI’s standardized framework.

Beyond certification, we are also working closely with telecom and internet service providers, as well as developers, to help them improve their digital ratings through infrastructure solutions such as IBS, FTTH, and 5G microcells. We currently are in discussions with projects having over 10 mn sq.feet under evaluation with prime property developers in the country and plan to expand this program to ensure that we empower every standing structure across the country have transparent rating conducted so that the connectivity readiness is shared with the property owners, developers, industry stakeholders as well as the regulators.  This initiative will play a key role in establishing digital connectivity as a fundamental metric of real estate value.

Rajeev: How is Shaurrya Teleservices navigating challenges like 5G convergence, managed Wi-Fi, and IoT-enabled infrastructure across large-scale deployments?

Salil: Connectivity is going through a major shift from humans to electronics. We strongly believe that in the world of 6 billion people there would be a minimum of 60 billion connections and for that to happen, 5G convergence and IoT integration are critical, and we are addressing them through innovation, partnerships, and scalable business models. Our Network-as-a-Service (NaaS) offering enables enterprises and developers to deploy and manage connectivity solutions efficiently, while our AI-led network optimization and SD-WAN platforms ensure agility and performance across complex environments.

We are also driving IoT-led infrastructure enhancements, integrating automation and analytics to improve network efficiency and user experience across sectors. With successfully executing some very interesting projects like complete new plant automation for Vokram Solar limited ^ many more similar large projects already underway, we’re focused on building resilient digital infrastructure that supports not just today’s connectivity needs but also tomorrow’s 5G and smart ecosystem demands.

Rajeev: What is Shaurrya Teleservices’s role in enabling smart cities and creating connected ecosystems across sectors such as healthcare, education, aviation, and real estate?

Salil: Shaurrya Teleservices play a pivotal role in bridging infrastructure and innovation for India’s smart city mission. Our neutral infrastructure model supports cross-sectoral connectivity, ensuring that telecom, Wi-Fi, IoT, and digital services can seamlessly coexist.

We are currently enabling digital infrastructure in critical sectors such as:

●       Healthcare: Supporting telemedicine and IoT-based health monitoring networks

●       Education: Powering digital classrooms and high-speed campus connectivity

●       Aviation: Enhancing airport communication systems and passenger experience through high-capacity in-building solutions at airports.

●       Real Estate: Helping developers achieve higher digital ratings and occupancy through certified infrastructure

By creating interconnected ecosystems, we’re not just improving network coverage but we’re empowering how citizens live, work, and interact in digitally enabled spaces.

Rajeev: Looking ahead, what are the key initiatives and innovations Shaurrya Teleservices is pursuing to maintain its leadership in India’s digital infrastructure landscape?

Salil: Our forward-looking strategy focuses on innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity. Over the next few years, Shaurrya Teleservices aims to:

●       Expand DCRA implementation nationwide and partner with CREDAI, NAREDCO, and every industry body to build awareness of digital connectivity ratings.

●       Launch knowledge and capacity-building programs to educate stakeholders on how digital readiness can drive higher efficiency and investment outcomes. We would be conducting these programs regularly across the country.

●       Introduce advanced analytics and AI-driven monitoring tools to continuously track connectivity performance across10 Mn sq. feet to start with.

●       Collaborate with global technology partners to integrate smart systems, 5G microcells, wifi, FTTH and green digital infrastructure in line with sustainable building practices.

●       Invest in MSME and startup enablement, providing affordable access to enterprise-grade network services through our NaaS model. We are very excited about this initiative as we would be able to give a go-to-market platform to many startups to experiment and launch their products and solutions.

These initiatives are central to our mission of empowering India’s digital growth while contributing to the Viksit Bharat vision, where technology and infrastructure uplift every sector of society.
