As AI-driven infrastructure, cloud expansion, and data-intensive applications continue to reshape the global storage industry, Toshiba India is witnessing strong momentum across its enterprise HDD business. In an interaction with DT, Polad Garda, Country Manager (Storage Devices), Toshiba India Pvt. Ltd. shares insights on the growing demand for enterprise and surveillance storage solutions, the impact of AI on the HDD market, and Toshiba’s roadmap around AI-powered surveillance HDDs and higher-density storage technologies.
Q: Please tell us about your overall business performance in 2025. What have been the most significant factors driving the company’s growth?
A: 2025 has been an extremely positive year for the storage industry, particularly for the HDD business, which is currently witnessing what can be described as a golden era. A major reason behind this momentum has been the massive global investment boom around AI technologies, which has significantly accelerated the need for large-scale data storage infrastructure. As AI adoption continues to grow across industries, organizations are generating and processing enormous volumes of data, creating strong demand for reliable, high-capacity storage solutions.
The Enterprise vertical emerged as the primary growth driver for the business during the year. Increasing investments in data centers, cloud infrastructure, enterprise workloads, surveillance environments, and AI-driven applications have substantially contributed to higher demand for enterprise-grade HDD solutions.
Q: With AI becoming central to innovation, what does your 2026 product roadmap look like, particularly in terms of AI powered advancements?
A: AI is rapidly transforming the storage industry, particularly in areas where massive volumes of data need to be captured, processed, analyzed, and stored efficiently. With the increasing adoption of AI-driven surveillance systems, the demand for advanced storage solutions is also rising significantly. In line with these evolving market requirements, we are expecting a strong product lineup in 2026, especially around AI-powered Surveillance HDDs designed to support high-workload environments, continuous recording operations, and intelligent video analytics applications.
At the same time, higher-density HDDs are also in development to address the growing storage requirements of enterprise environments, cloud infrastructure, surveillance networks, and AI-driven data centers. Our roadmap is focused on aligning with future-ready storage demands while supporting next-generation AI and data-centric applications.
Q: What concrete steps are you taking to further strengthen partner engagement and long term channel collaboration?
A: Strengthening partner engagement and building long-term channel relationships remains a key focus area for Toshiba India’s storage business. In the current market scenario, one of the biggest priorities for partners is ensuring timely allocation and availability of storage products, especially during periods of global supply constraints. Our primary objective is to support partners in fulfilling customer requirements without disruption and help them maintain business continuity in a highly dynamic market environment.
To achieve this, we maintain close coordination with our channel ecosystem through regular communication, daily engagement, and transparent updates on global market trends, supply situations, and demand movements. Sharing timely insights enables partners to plan their business more effectively and respond proactively to customer requirements. Beyond product availability, we strongly believe that consistent interaction, trust, and market transparency are essential for long-term collaboration.
Q: What are your top strategic priorities for 2026 across revenue, expansion, and market positioning?
A: Our strategic priorities for 2026 are closely aligned with the growing opportunities emerging from AI-driven infrastructure expansion and increasing demand for enterprise storage solutions. We aim to strengthen our position across enterprise, surveillance, and high-capacity storage segments by introducing advanced and higher-density HDD solutions designed for AI-powered environments. Expanding market reach through stronger channel engagement and ensuring consistent product availability will remain key focus areas. We also plan to further enhance collaboration with partners through closer market alignment and faster response to customer requirements. Overall, our objective is to reinforce Toshiba’s positioning as a trusted and future-ready storage technology brand in India.
