Optoma has established itself as a leading player in the projector market in India, offering cutting-edge solutions tailored to the evolving needs of the AV industry. In an exclusive conversation with Rajeev Ranjan, Editor, Digital Terminal, Vijay Sharma, Managing Director, Optoma Technology (I) Pvt Ltd, shared insights into the company’s strategy for growth, its focus on empowering partners, and its commitment to delivering innovative solutions that drive success.

Rajeev: What are the two key market segments where Optoma’s products see the highest demand?

Vijay: The two key market segments where Optoma’s products see the highest demand are education and the Pro AV segment. Education remains one of the largest categories for projectors, which is why it’s a major focus for us this year. Alongside education, we are also placing a strong emphasis on the Pro AV segment, as both of these areas are central to our strategic goals.

Rajeev: How has Optoma grown in the Indian market, and how have partners contributed to success in key projector segments?

Vijay: Optoma’s growth in the Indian market has been significant, driven by our strategic focus on key segments like Pro AV, home entertainment, and education. Our partners have played a crucial role in this success, helping us expand our reach and meet the evolving demands of these markets. Through close collaboration, we’ve been able to offer products tailored to specific segments, making them more dynamic and profitable. Their support has been instrumental in positioning us as a leader in the projector category.

Rajeev: What are the current trends in panel consumption, and how are panel sizes evolving to meet market integration needs?

Vijay: In the education sector, we’re seeing a strong shift toward larger panel sizes, with 75-inch and 86-inch panels becoming the standard for classrooms in India. These sizes ensure better visibility for all students, including those seated at the back. A minimum of 75 inches is recommended, with 86 inches providing the best experience for enhanced learning and engagement. This evolution reflects the growing demand for larger, more effective display solutions in educational environments.

Rajeev: What initiatives are you focusing on to connect with key stakeholders in the education sector?

Vijay: To connect with key stakeholders in the education sector, we are focusing on offering products tailored to the specific needs of classrooms, such as our 86-inch panels for optimal visibility and our range of laser projectors for integrated classroom solutions. We are actively engaging with educators and decision-makers by partnering with industry platforms like Digital Terminal to promote our offerings and ensure our partners are well-informed about our products and solutions. This approach helps us directly reach the necessary personnel and demonstrate the value of our solutions in enhancing education.

Rajeev: What are your key targets for the final quarter, and how will you work with your partners to achieve them?

Vijay: The success of Optoma is deeply intertwined with our partners, and I always highlight that our growth is a direct result of this collaboration. We ensure that the policies we set for our partners are rooted in fairness and transparency. Our commitment is to help our partners achieve the profitability they expect from us, and we are focused on making sure the targets we’ve set for this year are achievable through close cooperation with them.
