

Amid a challenging year for the projector industry, Optoma Technology stood out with innovation, resilience, and strategic expansion. In this exclusive interview, Mr. Vijay Sharma, Managing Director of Optoma Technology (I) Pvt. Ltd., reflects on the company’s impressive 2024 performance. Mr. Sharma outlines bold goals for 2025.
Rajeev: How did your business perform in CY 2024? What were the key factors that contributed to this success?
Vijay: At Optoma, 2024 was a good year, especially considering the overall projector market saw a decline of about 17%. We were incredibly proud to secure a commanding 36% market share within the DLP projector segment during Q4 2024.
We attribute this strong performance to robust sales across our key sectors: home entertainment, education, and the professional AV space. A critical factor in this success was our strategic collaborations with our valued channel partners. These partnerships were instrumental in expanding our market coverage and allowing us to react nimbly to the evolving demands of consumers.
Rajeev: What are your key business objectives for 2025? How do you plan to achieve them?
Vijay: We focus to further intensify our leadership in the projector market through innovation, AI integration, and a stronger local presence in 2025. By offering high-quality, value-driven products like the Wave series and the eco-friendly ZK810T Pro-AV projector, we catered to the evolving needs of Indian consumers.
In 2025 we have already unveiled UHC70LV 4K UHD projector powered by Dolby Vision technology, a world's first such certification for high brightness home cinema projector. With this launch we introduced immersive images to the professional installation market and home cinema enthusiasts. It is designed to be the first on the market with certifications for Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and Filmmaker mode.
Rajeev: What new opportunities do you foresee emerging in your industry?
Vijay: Our primary objective is to further intensify our leadership position in the projector market and established a healthy market share in Interactive Flat Panel business. We plan to achieve this through a multi-pronged strategy focusing on continuous innovation, deeper integration of futuristic technologies like AI, product like Optoma Management suite was launched. Its an all-round product to control multiple devices of different brand from single point. Invest more in strengthening our local presence, particularly here in India.
Rajeev: What is your current channel strength, and how do you plan to enhance your channel ecosystem in 2025?
Vijay: Optoma currently has a strong and expanding channel network in India covering the length and breadth of country. We are supported by trusted partners who have played a vital role in our growth over the last decade. In 2025, the company aims to strengthen this ecosystem further by offering improved partner programs, better margins, and comprehensive support. By launching innovative products in Pro-AV series and EDLA enabled Interactive Flat Panels, Optoma empowers its partners with high-demand offerings.
Rajeev: What new product categories or services are you planning to introduce in 2025?
Vijay: In 2025, Optoma is expanding its portfolio with cutting-edge products tailored for both professional and home use. In the Pro-AV category, the newly launched ZK810T/TST projector features 8500 lumens of brightness, 4K UHD resolution, motorized lens shift, and advanced dust resistance, ideal for auditoriums, museums, and institutions. For home entertainment, Optoma introduced the UHC70LV—an advanced 4K projector.
