Sujoy Brahmachari, CIO & CISO of Rosmerta Technologies Ltd, reflects on his 34-year journey in technology leadership, navigating challenges, mentoring teams, and preparing for the future with AI and blockchain innovations.

DT: What has been the most significant achievement in your career as CIO and CISO, and how has it shaped your approach to technology leadership?

Sujoy: My 34-year career has been a continuous learning journey, shaping me into a passionate Technocrat Evangelist and Information Security Professional. I have provided numerous technology and security solutions, planned and managed global projects, and mentored new generations while aligning with senior management to strategize IT plans that achieve organizational objectives. My expertise includes business process analysis to convert them into IT solutions, process re-engineering, business-driven IT roadmaps, planning and implementing robust IT setups that run 24/7, cost control, and managing large IT purchases. I have a proven track record of delivering practical solutions, building teams, resolving conflicts, demonstrating emotional intelligence, and being feedback-oriented, while leading all responsibilities from the front.

I have been recognized as one of Indiaโ€™s Best IT Leaders, and have received numerous awards, including Best CXO, Technology Evangelist, and Prominent CIO/CTO. I have also published several case studies on new technology adaptations, IT trends, how to safeguard your crown jewels, and how to maintain work-life balance in this VUCA world.

DT: Can you describe a pivotal moment or challenge in your professional journey that greatly influenced your career path or leadership style?

Sujoy: When I started my career in technology, learning was challenging because I didn't have much guidance. I had to figure things out on my own through a trial-and-error approach. There was no Google search to quickly find answers, and OEMs provided limited training, leaving us to navigate problems independently. However, when I moved into leadership roles, I made sure my team didnโ€™t face the same difficulties. I shared my knowledge and experience with them, encouraging them to keep learning and exploring. Iโ€™ve always believed that sharing knowledge only helps it grow. I wanted my team to feel supported and empowered to push beyond their limits and reach their full potential.

DT: What emerging technology trends do you believe will have the biggest impact on the IT industry soon, and how are you preparing your organization to adapt to these changes?

Sujoy: Generative AI and blockchain are poised to have the most significant impact on the IT industry in the near future. Generative AI has the potential to revolutionize how we handle data, create content, and automate tasks, while blockchain offers enhanced security and transparency.

To prepare, we conduct Proof-of-Value (POV) projects to explore the potential benefits of these technologies. These POVs help us understand how to integrate them effectively, ensuring we stay ahead in an evolving and competitive market. By remaining agile and proactive, we can swiftly adapt to these emerging trends and fully leverage their potential.
