In the ever-evolving world of projection technology, recent advancements have dramatically transformed both the entertainment and professional AV sectors. Amidst this dynamic landscape, Christie Digital stands out with its impressive array of cutting-edge projection and display solutions. To dive deeper into the companyโs strategic vision and groundbreaking innovations, Rajeev Ranjan, Editor, Digital Terminal, engaged in an exclusive conversation with Mr. Rishubh Nayar, Director, Christie Digital Systems (India). In this insightful interview, Mr. Nayar shares valuable perspectives on Christie Digitalโs role in shaping the industry and its impact on the market.
Rajeev: Christie Digital has been a leader in the projection technology space for many years. How is the company navigating the evolving display technology landscape, particularly with the rise of MicroLED and other emerging display solutions?
Rishubh: Since 2014, we have proudly led the Indian market in high-brightness projection segment, consistently maintaining our position at the forefront with products that exceed 6000 lumens. Our journey in innovation doesnโt stop there; we are continuously advancing in the realm of direct view LED displays. To date, we have successfully completed over 200 installations across India, demonstrating our commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction. One of our most groundbreaking achievements is the introduction of our MicroTiles LED. This product represents a significant leap forward in direct view LED technology, offering unique features and unparalleled performance that set it apart in the industry. Our dedication to innovation and quality ensures that we not only meet but exceed the expectations of our clients, solidifying our reputation as a leader in high-brightness and direct view LED solutions in India.
Rajeev: Christie has a range of new HS Series projectors. How do these new projectors address the specific needs of the professional AV and entertainment markets?
Rishubh: Today, we proudly offer what is possibly the largest range of DLP projectors available from any manufacturer, with units spanning from 5,000 to 50,000 lumens. However, our expertise extends far beyond projectors alone. We have distinguished ourselves by providing comprehensive integrated solutions that cater to diverse customer needs. Products like Pandoras Box, Terra, and Mystique exemplify our commitment to delivering turnkey solutions, solidifying Christie's reputation as a one-stop solutions provider.
Projection technology continues to play a crucial role in immersive entertainment due to its unparalleled flexibility, seamlessly adapting to both indoor and outdoor environments. Looking ahead, we envision an even tighter integration of projectors with advanced content management and processing solutions, such as our Pandoras Box. This product is specifically designed for immersive environments, ensuring a cohesive and captivating experience for audiences. By combining our extensive range of high-performance projectors with our cutting-edge integrated solutions, we are well-equipped to meet and exceed the evolving demands of the entertainment industry.
Rajeev: What are some of the most exciting upcoming trends that Christie sees shaping the future of the projection technology industry?
Rishubh: Projectors are becoming smaller in size but able to output higher lumens, powered by various illumination technologies such as RGB pure laser that pushes the boundaries of color reproduction, brightness, resolution, image uniformity, installation versatility, and operational lifetime. This makes projection technology ideal for the creation of unparalleled shared experiences. We are also seeing greater integration with powerful software tools to simplify the deployment process for live events. Our Christie Mystique automated camera-based alignment software is a case in point. It enables users to quickly install, align, calibrate and maintain multi-projection systems.
Additionally, projection technology is increasingly being integrated with AR and VR to create immersive environments. This trend is particularly significant in sectors such as education, training, entertainment, and retail, where it enhances the user experience by blending physical and digital worlds. At the same time, with growing environmental concerns, there is a push towards more energy-efficient and eco-friendly projector designs. Christie projectors are designed with sustainability in mind and the Christie Griffyn 4K50-RGB pure laser projector is a good example. Even though it has a high brightness output of 50,000 lumens, itโs also the most energy-efficient laser projector available today in its class, generating an incredible 15.9 lumens per watt. Comparable projectors in the same class only deliver an average of 10 lumens per watt.
Rajeev: In conclusion, can you share Christie's vision for how the company will continue to be a leader in the display technology market in the years to come?
Rishubh: Christie will continue to embrace continuous innovation, prioritize customer-centricity, and adopt sustainable practices. We will also maintain our efforts in investing in R&D to advance technologies like RGB pure laser projection, and direct-view LED.
