Punjab National Bank has appointed Shri D. Surendran as its new Executive Director, effective March 24th, 2025. This strategic move leverages his expertise, leadership abilities, and vision, ensuring continued growth and success for the bank. Shri Surendran, the newly appointed Executive Director of PNB, brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise in the banking sector. After beginning an illustrious career in 1990 as an Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO) at Canara Bank, there was no looking back, and he has since dedicated over 34 years to the organization. Throughout his career, he has held key positions in various states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, New Delhi, and Andhra Pradesh.
He has successfully managed Very Large Branches and Exceptionally Large Branches and served as the General Manager of Karnataka Gramin Bank. His leadership extended to heading the Canara Bank Circle Office in Madurai. As Chief General Manager, he led the Human Resources division, where he spearheaded the HR transformation project, Project Aarohan.
With expertise spanning Branch Banking, Priority Credit, MSME, Retail Credit, Recovery, and Human Resources, Shri Surendran has played a pivotal role in shaping the bankโs strategic direction. He was also nominated as a board member of Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Ltd.
A Post Graduate in Agriculture from Annamalai University, he is also a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers. In addition, Shri Surendran has completed the Leadership Development Programme for Senior Executives at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Bengaluru, organized by the Banks Board Bureau.
