Bharat Forge Join Hands With AMD for Make in India Servers

The servers developed under this collaboration will feature AMD EPYC processors, which are designed to excel in security and energy efficiency. Additionally, they are expected to lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for data centers.

Bharat Forge’s subsidiary, Kalyani Powertrain, is set to enter the Indian server market in collaboration with AMD, as part of its strategic initiative to strengthen India’s data infrastructure. The company aims to integrate AMD’s advanced technology with locally manufactured solutions.

According to a report by Moneycontrol, Kalyani Powertrain’s electronics division announced the plan on February 24, describing it as a significant milestone in advancing India’s server infrastructure. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s position in the global data center market by leveraging cutting-edge technology and local manufacturing. With this move, the company seeks to enhance data processing capabilities and support the growing demand for high-performance computing solutions in the country.

This strategic partnership aligns with the visionary leadership of Kalyani Group Chairman Padma Bhushan Shri Baba Kalyani, who has long championed India's technological self-reliance.

The report further reveals that at a recent event in Pune, Maharashtra, representatives from both companies unveiled the first EPYC CPU-based server, marking the official launch of their strategic alliance. The partnership aims to address the growing demand for high-performance computing in the Indian market across industries such as automotive, cloud computing, telecom, and AI.

To commemorate this significant collaboration, Kalyani Powertrain recently hosted an event in Pune, attended by key leaders from both organizations. Representing AMD were Mr. Vinay Sinha, Managing Director & Corporate Vice President, India Mega Region; Mr. Pankaj Dessai, Director, Channel Business, India Mega Region; and Mr. Manmohan Brahma, Engineering Solutions Leader, India & AP Mega Region.

From the Kalyani Group, the event saw the presence of Mr. Baba Kalyani, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Forge Ltd.; Mr. Amit Kalyani, Vice Chairman & Joint Managing Director, Bharat Forge Ltd.; Mr. Abhijit Moharir, Chief Information Officer, Bharat Forge Ltd.; Mr. Pankaj Sonalkar, Managing Director, Kalyani Powertrain; Mr. Ujwal BJ, Vice President, Program Management & Strategy, Kalyani Powertrain and Mrs. Varsha Kadam, Vice President, Sales & Business Development, Kalyani Powertrain.

Integrating AMD Cutting-Edge Technology

The servers developed under this collaboration will feature AMD EPYC processors, which are designed to excel in security and energy efficiency. Additionally, they are expected to lower the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for data centers, according to reports.

Looking ahead, there are plans to incorporate AMD Instinct™ accelerators, enhancing AI and high-performance computing capabilities. AMD will provide design collaterals and technical documentation to support Kalyani Powertrain in building and optimizing these solutions, helping ensure they meet global standards.
