Following the overwhelming success of its flagship stores in Delhi and Mumbai, launched in April 2023, Apple is gearing up to strengthen its footprint in India by opening four additional retail outlets. The tech giant has chosen Pune, Bengaluru, and Delhi-NCR as the prime locations for this expansion, with plans for a second store in Mumbai as well, according to Moneycontrol. Recognizing the tremendous growth potential in the Indian market, Apple is not only expanding its retail presence but has also begun manufacturing the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max in the country.
Buoyant on Indiaโs capability to emerge as a manufacturing hub, Apple has also decided to bring the production of the complete iPhone 16 lineup including its Pro and Pro Max versions to the country. The decision highlights India's pivotal role in Apple's global operations and reflects the company's increasing emphasis on diversifying the supply chain and leveraging India's skilled workforce.
"Our stores are incredible places to experience the magic of Apple, and it's been wonderful to deepen our connection with our customers in India. We're thrilled to build our teams as we plan to open more stores in India, because we're inspired by the creativity and passion of our customers across this country," told Deirdre O'Brien, Senior Vice-President, Retail, at Apple to moneycontrol. "We can't wait for them to have even more opportunities to discover and shop for our amazing products and services, and connect with our extraordinary, knowledgeable team members."
Apple has begun producing the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in India, in collaboration with its manufacturing partners, Foxconn and Pegatron. The made-in-India Apple models will soon be available to local customers and will be exported to select international markets.
