Apple has reportedly carried out another round of job cuts, marking its second reported workforce reduction in less than two months. The latest layoffs have affected a small number of employees working on Apple Fitness+, particularly those involved in the service’s audio content, according to a Bloomberg report cited by Moneycontrol.
The latest development comes only weeks after Apple reportedly eliminated more than 200 positions across several teams, including those associated with Siri, Vision Pro and its Intelligent Systems Experience organisation. The repeated job cuts indicate that Apple is continuing to make targeted adjustments across parts of its business and technology operations.
Fitness+ Team Faces Fresh Job Cuts
The latest layoffs reportedly involved a handful of employees within Apple’s Fitness+ team. Some of the affected employees worked on the audio side of the subscription service, including content associated with Time to Walk and Time to Run.
These features allow Apple Watch users to access guided audio workouts without having to watch a video. According to reports, Apple is expected to reduce the frequency of new audio content releases, although the features themselves are not currently being discontinued.
The reported changes come as Apple continues to reassess the direction and operations of Fitness+. Earlier reports had indicated that the company was reviewing the service’s future, including its content strategy and costs.
Second Job-Cut Round in Less Than Two Months
The latest layoffs follow a larger round of cuts reported in August, when more than 200 Apple employees were reportedly affected. Those reductions included around 100 positions linked to the Vision Pro organisation, along with roles across Siri and software teams, according to reports.
At the time, Apple described the changes as part of a broader effort to realign teams and evolve its products and user experiences. The company also indicated that the restructuring would involve creating new roles while eliminating a limited number of existing positions.
Unlike a company-wide workforce reduction, the latest moves appear to be concentrated in specific functions. The relatively small number of Fitness+ positions affected also suggests a targeted adjustment rather than a broad restructuring of Apple’s workforce.
Fitness+ Strategy Under Review
The changes have renewed attention on Apple’s broader health and fitness strategy. Fitness+ requires regular production of workout content across different formats, making content production and subscriber engagement important factors in the service’s ongoing operations.
Reports have also pointed to potential changes involving Apple’s Health app and the company’s broader approach to health-related services. However, the latest reports do not indicate that Apple plans to discontinue Fitness+.
Apple’s latest job cuts come amid continued restructuring across the technology industry, where companies are adjusting teams, investments and operating priorities as they focus resources on areas considered strategically important.
For Apple, the two reported rounds of job cuts within less than two months highlight an ongoing process of workforce realignment across selected businesses. The latest Fitness+ reductions, while limited in scale, could also signal changes in how Apple manages content production and investment around its subscription services.
