The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allotment of 91.38 acres of land in Kanamam village, Anandapuram mandal, Visakhapatnam district, for the development of a large-scale logistics and light industrial park that will support the warehousing and infrastructure requirements of Google’s proposed India AI Hub in Visakhapatnam.
The project, which will be developed by Ecobox Industrial Asset IV Private Limited, represents an investment of ₹1,008 crore and is expected to create approximately 5,000 employment opportunities. The land has been allotted at ₹55 lakh per acre, reinforcing the state's efforts to establish Visakhapatnam as a major destination for AI and digital infrastructure investments.
Supporting Google's AI Infrastructure Expansion
Google has identified Ecobox, through Logicap Holdings, as its preferred development partner for building the logistics infrastructure required for its proposed AI Hub.
Once final agreements are executed, Google plans to utilize the industrial park in multiple phases to support the warehousing, logistics, storage, and service requirements of its planned data centre campus. The agreement also provides Google with the first right of refusal to acquire all or part of the facilities after they become operational.
If Google does not require infrastructure planned in future phases, Ecobox will be permitted to lease or sell the remaining facilities to third-party customers in accordance with the approved land-use guidelines.
Modern Logistics and Industrial Infrastructure
The proposed logistics park will feature a built-up area of nearly 19.45 lakh square feet across 44.65 acres of developed land.
The project will include:
Three large warehouse blocks covering 14.68 lakh sq. ft.
A 2.42 lakh sq. ft. light manufacturing facility
A 1.90 lakh sq. ft. block dedicated to data centre and allied activities
A 45,000 sq. ft. administrative building
Additionally, the government has approved the use of 5 to 7 acres within the project for networking and connectivity infrastructure to strengthen the broader data centre ecosystem supporting Google's AI operations.
Infrastructure Development Planned
To improve connectivity, the Andhra Pradesh government has directed the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) to develop a 24-metre-wide master plan road connecting the project site.
Ecobox will also bear a proportionate share of the cost should it choose to develop the proposed three-kilometre peripheral road through the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).
The proposal received approval from the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) after recommendations from the State Investment Promotion Committee (SIPC).
Strengthening India's AI and Data Centre Ecosystem
The logistics park is expected to become a key component of the ecosystem planned around Google's proposed $15 billion India AI Hub, which aims to position Visakhapatnam as one of India's leading destinations for artificial intelligence, hyperscale data centres, cloud infrastructure, and digital innovation.
The project also aligns with India's growing focus on attracting large-scale investments in AI infrastructure, advanced data centres, cloud computing, and digital manufacturing as demand for AI-driven computing capacity continues to rise.
