CtrlS Datacenters has secured a combined investment of ₹250 crore from Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath and entrepreneur Sreeram Reddy Vanga, providing fresh capital for the company’s ongoing data centre expansion as demand for AI, cloud and hyperscale infrastructure continues to rise in India.

According to CtrlS, Kamath has invested ₹200 crore, while Vanga has contributed ₹50 crore to the company.

The investment comes at a time when India’s data centre industry is witnessing rapid growth, driven by increasing enterprise cloud adoption, hyperscaler requirements, artificial intelligence workloads and the broader digitalisation of businesses.

Investment to Support Infrastructure Expansion

CtrlS plans to use the latest capital to fund infrastructure expansion and capacity build-out across its data centre operations. The company is focusing particularly on meeting growing requirements from enterprises and hyperscalers.

CtrlS founder and CEO Sridhar Pinnapureddy said the investment will provide the company with additional flexibility to accelerate its infrastructure plans and expand its ambitions as India’s digital economy enters its next phase of growth.

The company is increasingly focusing on infrastructure capable of supporting high-density computing workloads, particularly as AI applications demand significantly greater computing power, energy and specialised data centre capabilities.

Nikhil Kamath Highlights India’s Data Centre Opportunity

Nikhil Kamath said that AI, cloud computing and digital public infrastructure will be among the key technology shifts shaping the coming decade, making data centres an increasingly critical component of India’s digital ecosystem.

He highlighted the need for India’s underlying digital infrastructure to keep pace with the rapid expansion of technology adoption and AI workloads.

The investment in CtrlS marks another major move by Kamath into India’s expanding technology infrastructure ecosystem, with data centres expected to play a central role in supporting the country’s AI and cloud ambitions.

CtrlS Secures Major ₹7,000 Crore Commitment From CPP Investments

The latest investment follows a significant commitment from the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPP Investments), which committed up to ₹7,000 crore to CtrlS two months earlier.

The transaction included a ₹4,000 crore investment for an 8.2% stake in CtrlS at a pre-money valuation of ₹44,824 crore, equivalent to approximately C$6.6 billion.

A further ₹3,000 crore was committed to a separate joint venture focused on developing hyperscale data centre campuses across India.

The investment provides CtrlS with substantial financial backing as it expands its footprint and develops infrastructure designed to support the next generation of enterprise and hyperscale workloads.

CtrlS Operates More Than 370 MW of Data Centre Capacity

CtrlS currently operates 19 data centres across nine markets in India, with more than 370 MW of capacity.

The company has another 4.4 GW of data centre projects at different stages of development, highlighting the scale of its expansion pipeline.

CtrlS is also developing AI-ready infrastructure designed to accommodate higher-density computing workloads. The growing adoption of generative AI, large-scale AI models and cloud-based services is increasing demand for facilities capable of supporting significantly higher power and computing densities.

Revenue Growth Expected to Remain Strong

According to ICRA, CtrlS’s operating income increased approximately 17% to ₹1,562 crore in FY2025, compared with ₹1,339 crore in FY2024.

The ratings agency expects the company’s revenue to grow by around 20–25% annually during FY2026 and FY2027, supported by contracted data centre capacity.

The projected growth reflects increasing demand from enterprises and hyperscalers, as well as the company’s expanding capacity pipeline.

CtrlS Raises ₹5,500 Crore for Hyderabad Campus

CtrlS has also been strengthening its financing position to support its large-scale infrastructure development.

In July, the company secured ₹5,500 crore in debt financing from State Bank of India and Central Bank of India for a planned 3.5 GW data centre campus in Hyderabad.

State Bank of India sanctioned ₹4,000 crore, while Central Bank of India committed ₹1,500 crore towards the project.

The financing demonstrates the significant capital requirements associated with building next-generation data centre infrastructure in India, particularly campuses designed for hyperscale and AI workloads.

India’s AI Infrastructure Race Gains Momentum

CtrlS’s latest investment from Nikhil Kamath and Sreeram Reddy Vanga comes as India moves rapidly toward building the infrastructure required for an AI-driven digital economy.

The combination of fresh private capital, institutional investment and large-scale debt financing is enabling data centre operators to accelerate capacity additions across key Indian markets.

With more than 370 MW already operational and a 4.4 GW development pipeline, CtrlS is positioning itself to capture a growing share of demand from enterprises, cloud providers and hyperscalers.

The company’s focus on AI-ready facilities could become increasingly important as high-density computing, cloud adoption and AI workloads reshape India’s data centre requirements over the coming years.
