Praruh Technologies Ltd has secured yet another significant contract from RailTel Corporation of India Limited to implement a next-generation optical networking project aimed at strengthening RailTel’s nationwide telecom infrastructure.

Under the project, “Design, Supply, Installation, Testing & Commissioning of MDWDM System, including integration with the existing network of RailTel,” Praruh Technologies will deploy advanced optical networking solutions across 286 locations across India. The total project value of the contract stands at ₹38,98,17,185.

RailTel Corporation, a Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, plays a key role in building and managing telecom infrastructure for Indian Railways and supporting India’s digital connectivity initiatives.

As part of the scope of work, Praruh Technologies will undertake the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and acceptance of the Next Generation (NG) MDWDM System, along with integration into RailTel’s existing Network Operations Centre (NOC) and OSS systems through standard northbound APIs provided by the system controller. The project also includes end-to-end project management, supply of equipment and related goods, logistics and transportation, installation, acceptance testing (AT), and training of RailTel personnel to ensure seamless operations and long-term network reliability.

The deployment will leverage the SDN-enabled Next Generation MDWDM system from Nokia, designed to deliver high-capacity optical transport while optimising operational efficiency and reducing operational costs. The system operates on discrete wavelengths in the C-band centred around a frequency of 193.1 THz, aligned with ITU-T Recommendation G.694.1 grid standards, enabling high-speed and efficient data transmission.

The architecture will support single or dual carrier channels with 100G and 200G coherent line rates, allowing multiple applications to operate on the same chassis without requiring changes to the optical or photonic layer, subject to link budget requirements. This will significantly enhance network scalability, performance, and capacity for RailTel’s growing connectivity needs.

Commenting on the development, Vishal Prakash, CEO & MD, Praruh Technologies Ltd., said, "We are honoured to partner with RailTel on this strategic network modernisation initiative. This project reflects the growing trust in our capabilities to deliver complex, large-scale digital infrastructure programs for the public sector. By deploying next-generation MDWDM technology, we aim to help RailTel strengthen its optical backbone, enhance network capacity, and support India’s rapidly expanding digital ecosystem."

The project marks a significant step in RailTel’s network modernization efforts, enabling the organisation to strengthen its optical backbone and support the growing demand for high-capacity digital connectivity across the country.
