AMD and the University of Delhi announced a strategic collaboration to equip the country's next generation of AI talent with industry-relevant skills.
Under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed today, AMD will bring its AI Engage Developer Program to Delhi University, providing students and faculty with hands-on access to AMD's opensource ROCm™ AI software platform, learning resources and developer GPU cloud credits. The initiative aims to train up to 10,000 students over the next year, enabling them to build, test and deploy AI applications using industry-grade tools.
"India has the talent and the ambition to lead the next wave of AI innovation. The opportunity now is to give students early access to the platforms and tools that power real world AI development," said Jaya Jagadish, Country Head & SVP Engineering, AMD India. "Through our collaboration with the University of Delhi, we are helping students move from learning AI concepts to building AI solutions. It reflects AMD's long-term commitment to strengthening India's AI ecosystem and developing future-ready talent."
Through the collaboration, students and faculty will gain access to AMD's AI learning curriculum, technical workshops, open software ecosystems, and cloud-based GPU resources for hands-on experimentation. The program is designed to encourage innovation, research and developer readiness while supporting India's broader vision of building indigenous AI capabilities.
Speaking at the event, Prof Yogesh Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Delhi University said, "We are proud to partner with AMD in advancing AI education and innovation in India. This collaboration reflects a growing industry focus on preparing graduates with practical AI skills that extend beyond classroom learning. By combining academic learning with access to modern AI computing platforms, AMD and Delhi University will help create a stronger pipeline of AI developers and researchers to support India's expanding digital economy".
The University of Delhi, one of India's largest higher education institutions, will integrate these resources into student learning opportunities, enabling aspiring developers to gain practical exposure to AI technologies.
The collaboration builds on AMD's ongoing investments in India's technology ecosystem through academia, developer enablement and open AI innovation.
By empowering students with practical experience on open AI platforms, AMD aims to help nurture a new generation of engineers equipped to contribute to India's leadership in artificial intelligence and high-performance computing.
