AMD has announced the appointment of Vinay Awasthi as Senior Vice President, Asia Pacific, Japan and India (APJ) Sales, marking a strategic leadership move aimed at accelerating growth across one of the world’s most dynamic and high opportunity technology regions. In this role, he will be responsible for driving AMD’s regional sales strategy, strengthening ecosystem partnerships, and expanding the adoption of the company’s comprehensive portfolio of computing and semiconductor solutions.
Strategic Mandate Across a High-Growth Region
In his new position, Vinay Awasthi will oversee AMD’s sales execution across APJ and India, a region that continues to witness strong demand for advanced computing, AI-driven workloads, data center expansion, and next-generation PC platforms. His mandate includes deepening engagement with enterprise customers, channel partners, and strategic alliances while supporting AMD’s broader growth objectives in both mature and emerging markets.
He will also play a key role in aligning AMD’s product and solutions roadmap with evolving regional requirements, ensuring stronger market penetration across cloud, enterprise, and client segments.

He has consistently led transformation initiatives across business units, helping organizations expand market share, optimize operations, and scale revenue engines across highly competitive markets.
Strong Global Sales Leadership Across Qualcomm and HP
Prior to joining AMD, Vinay Awasthi served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Compute Sales at Qualcomm, where he led worldwide sales strategy for compute-focused solutions. In this role, he played a key part in driving global adoption of next-generation computing platforms and strengthening Qualcomm’s enterprise engagement strategy.
Before Qualcomm, he spent over eight years at HP, where he held multiple senior leadership roles across global and regional responsibilities. These included Senior Vice President & Managing Director for Greater Asia and Worldwide Head of Print Supply Chain Operations, among others.
During his tenure at HP, he managed large-scale multi-billion-dollar portfolios across personal systems and commercial businesses spanning Asia Pacific and Japan. His leadership was instrumental in strengthening market positioning, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving sustained business expansion across highly diverse regional markets.
Vinay Awasthi holds an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad, providing a strong academic foundation to his extensive global leadership experience spanning more than two decades in the technology industry.
With this appointment, AMD reinforces its leadership depth in APJ and India, positioning itself to further accelerate growth in AI computing, high-performance workloads, and next-generation digital infrastructure, while strengthening its long-term ecosystem engagement across the region.
