As India’s IT channel continues to evolve, the ability to combine strong partnerships, dependable service, and an agile approach to business is becoming increasingly important. With over three decades of experience across service, distribution, and technology solutions, Simran Mulchandani, Director, TechGuy Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Proprietor, Aarvee Infoservices, has built a journey defined by resilience, customer commitment, and continuous evolution. In this exclusive conversation with Rajeev Ranjan, Editor, Digital Terminal, she shares her journey, leadership lessons, business priorities, and vision for transforming technology service and delivery.

Rajeev: What inspired you to enter the IT industry, and how has your journey evolved over the years?

Simran: Interestingly, I didn't choose the IT industry—it chose me. My father ran a TVSE-authorized service centre, and at just 16, while studying in college, I started working there as a coordinator. My father believed that “an empty mind is the devil’s workshop,” so after my college classes ended at 10:30 a.m., I would head straight to work and spend the day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. It wasn't just helping out—it was a proper job that taught me discipline and the fundamentals of business.

After marrying Vinod Mulchandani, who was from the same industry but focused entirely on sales, my exposure expanded significantly. I moved beyond service into sales, finance, and overall business operations. Today, I lead HR, Accounts, Collections, and independently manage our Epson-authorized service centre. What began as a family responsibility has grown into a career spanning over three decades.

Rajeev: As a woman entrepreneur in a traditionally male-dominated industry, what were some of the key challenges you faced while building your business?

Simran: I consider myself fortunate. Coming from an established IT business family, I was always treated with respect by colleagues, partners, and customers. In fact, I never felt that being a woman limited my opportunities.

The bigger challenge was balancing a growing business with family responsibilities, especially in a nuclear family setup. During the years when my children were young, I worked only between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. so I could be there for their school schedule. I must say Epson has been one of the finest organizations I have had the privilege of working with. They always respected and honoured my work-hour commitments—something that was rare then and is still not very common today.

Above all, I owe a great deal of my journey to my husband, Vinod Mulchandani, whose unwavering support and progressive mindset gave me the confidence to grow professionally. I am equally grateful to the many men I have worked with throughout my career who respected my abilities, encouraged my leadership, and made my journey both fulfilling and rewarding.

Rajeev: Aarvee Infoservices has been recognized among Epson’s Best Service Centres for over 14 years. What has been the secret behind this consistent service excellence?

Simran: The answer is simple—our team. At Aarvee Infoservices, we are extremely proud of our team’s loyalty and long-term association with us. Many of our employees have been with us for years, growing alongside the organization. This continuity has created a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous learning.

Having a stable and committed team has reduced challenges and opened doors to newer opportunities. It has enabled us to consistently deliver exceptional service while expanding into new business verticals. While awards and recognition are truly encouraging, they are ultimately a reflection of one thing—a team that shares our values and is committed to putting the customer first, every single day.

Rajeev: In a highly competitive IT distribution market, what differentiates TechGuy Technologies from other players in the channel ecosystem?

Simran: Now that’s asking me to reveal our secret recipe to the entire ecosystem!

I believe our biggest differentiator is that we’ve never tried to be just another distributor. We have always focused on building long-term relationships—with our partners, our brands, and our customers. Our philosophy has always been simple: service before sales.

Technology and products will keep changing, but trust, consistency, and the willingness to stand by our partners are what truly differentiate TechGuy Technologies.

Rajeev: What opportunities do you see for TechGuy Technologies in the evolving IT distribution and technology solutions market?

Simran: Many companies have strength in one or two areas. At TechGuy, we have built a broad foundation across four dimensions—customers, products, verticals, and geographies. We operate across both hardware and software, serve a diverse customer base, and have a strong presence across almost the entire western region of India.

This means our funnel is already in place. As new technologies and products emerge, we don’t have to build the ecosystem from scratch—we simply leverage our existing network to introduce them across our customers, partners, and regions. That, I believe, is our biggest opportunity for the future.

Rajeev: What are the company’s key targets and priorities for the next financial year?

Simran: Our priorities for the coming financial year are very clear:

  • Expand our complete product portfolio across our entire West partner network.

  • Build stronger, long-term relationships with our partners.

  • Establish strategic warehouses to enable faster deliveries and better service.

  • Continuously add new products and brands to strengthen our offerings.

Our focus is not just on growth, but on creating a stronger and more efficient ecosystem that benefits our partners and the customers they serve.

Rajeev: What is your personal goal for the future?

Simran: My personal goal is to see TechGuy evolve into a quick-commerce and on-demand service platform for technology—where an end user simply names the product or service they need, and we deliver or service it within two hours across Mumbai.

Over the years, I have consciously tried to keep learning and evolving with the business. Completing a startup course from IIM Bangalore gave me a fresh perspective on building and scaling a consumer-focused brand. We have also been recognized under the Atal Innovation and Startup ecosystem supported by the Government of India, which has further strengthened our belief in the TechGuy vision.

Today, the foundation is already in place—our end-user website, marketing strategy, and manpower. What we now need is scale. I see TechGuy becoming a one-stop destination where the right guidance, dependable support, and the quickest delivery come together to make buying and servicing technology as simple as ordering anything online.

And that is exactly what our philosophy stands for—Service Simplified.

Rajeev: So basically, how many companies or verticals are run under your banner?

Simran: We operate through three key entities, each with a distinct role in the technology ecosystem:

  • TechGuy Technologies Pvt. Ltd. – our distribution and trading business, covering multiple hardware and software verticals.

  • Aarvee Infoservices – our Epson-authorized service centre, focused on technology service and support.

  • TechGuy LLP – our end-user-focused business under the TechGuy brand, with a vision to bring products and services directly to end users through a quick-commerce and on-demand model.

Together, these businesses give us a presence across distribution, service, and end-user technology, creating a complete ecosystem rather than operating in just one segment.
