Shailendra: One of my most significant achievements as an IT leader was leading the successful implementation of a comprehensive digital transformation strategy at Dabur International Ltd. This involved overhauling the IT infrastructure, integrating AI and cloud technologies, and streamlining processes across departments.
This initiative enhanced operational efficiency, reduced costs, and improved data-driven decision-making. It shaped my approach to technology leadership by reinforcing the need to align IT initiatives with business goals, foster continuous innovation, and ensure technology serves as a strategic enabler for growth and competitiveness.
DT: Can you describe a pivotal moment or challenge in your professional journey that greatly influenced your career path or leadership style?
Shailendra: A pivotal moment in my career occurred at PepsiCo, where I led a critical IT infrastructure overhaul during a major organizational restructuring. The project was challenging, with tight deadlines, budget constraints, and the need to minimize disruption to operations.
It required not only technical expertise but also strong leadership and strategic planning. I had to foster collaboration across teams, manage stakeholder expectations, and keep the focus on end goals. Successfully completing the project reinforced my problem-solving skills and highlighted the importance of resilience, adaptability, and effective communication in leadership. This experience shaped my leadership style, teaching me the value of leading by example, staying calm under pressure, and being ready to pivot strategies when needed.

Generative AI: Advancements in generative AI are enhancing data analysis, content creation, and automation. Weโre upskilling our team to leverage AI tools and explore new use cases for improved productivity.
Autonomous AI: Systems with minimal human oversight are on the rise. We aim to deploy these to boost efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
Cloud-Native Technologies: The shift to cloud-native architectures is driven by scalability and cost-efficiency. Weโre migrating our infrastructure and adopting best practices for cloud security.
Quantum Computing: While still emerging, quantum computing could revolutionize fields like cryptography. Weโre keeping an eye on developments for future adoption.
