Optoma is strengthening its position in India’s professional visual technology market, backed by growth in Entry Pro AV, an expanding display portfolio and a deeper focus on local manufacturing and channel partnerships. In this conversation, Rajeev Ranjan, Editor, Digital Terminal, speaks with Vijay Sharma, Managing Director, Optoma India Pvt. Ltd., about the company’s growth momentum, portfolio expansion, smart display technologies and its strategy for the Indian market.

Rajeev: Optoma recorded a 21.52% share in the Entry Pro AV projector segment in Q1 2026. What were the key factors behind this growth, and how does the company plan to build on this momentum?

Vijay: Our growth in the Entry Pro AV segment has been driven by a combination of a focused product portfolio, stronger channel partnerships and a clear understanding of the requirements of the Indian market. A key driver has been our sharper focus on the 6,000–10,000 lumen segment, where demand is expanding across auditoriums, hospitality, museums, corporate environments and other large-venue applications.. Our unit shipments also grew by 165% year-on-year during this period. We have strengthened our go-to-market approach by working closely with channel partners, improving product availability and enabling partners with the right product knowledge and application-led.

Going forward, our focus will be on strengthening our presence across professional AV, while continuing to invest in products upto 30,000 lumen and Professional Smart Signage Display Panels. At the same time, we are looking beyond individual product categories and building a broader visual solutions portfolio. Our participation at InfoComm India 2026 reflects this approach, with solutions spanning projection, interactive displays, professional displays, dvLED and immersive applications.

Rajeev: With the display market expanding beyond traditional projectors, how is Optoma positioning its portfolio across Interactive Flat Panels, LED and other large-format display solutions?

Vijay: The market is moving towards a much broader definition of visual technology, and Optoma is evolving along with it. We are no longer looking at projection and displays as separate categories; our focus is on providing the right visual solution based on the customer's application. Our portfolio now includes professional projectors, Interactive Flat Panels, professional smart displays and dvLED solutions. At InfoComm India 2026, we brought these categories together through products such as the ZU600UST and ZK1320 projectors, N-Series Professional Smart Displays, Creative Touch Interactive Flat Panels and All-in-One COB dvLED solutions.

The N-Series, for instance, is designed for commercial environments such as retail, hospitality, healthcare, transportation and corporate spaces, with 4K UHD resolution, 24/7 operation and centralized device management through the Optoma Management Suite. Our objective is to build an integrated portfolio that can address different requirements, whether it is interactive learning in a classroom, collaboration in an office, digital signage in retail or large-format visual experiences in professional environments.

Rajeev: How is the shift towards Made-in-India manufacturing influencing Optoma’s product strategy, pricing, supply chain and competitiveness in the Indian market?

Vijay: Made-in-India manufacturing is an important part of our long-term strategy for India. We have expanded our local manufacturing programme beyond Interactive Flat Panels to include projectors, professional display signage and dvLED Display as well. For us, localisation is not only about manufacturing products locally. It allows us to respond more effectively to market requirements, improve supply-chain responsiveness and support shorter delivery timelines. It also helps us align better with local procurement requirements, including the Government e-Marketplace.

At the same time, we remain focused on maintaining our global quality standards, with Optoma teams involved in local quality inspections. As the scale of local manufacturing increases, we expect it to create greater operational efficiencies and strengthen our competitiveness in India.

Rajeev: What opportunities does Optoma see across education, government and enterprise digitisation, particularly with its expanded GeM portfolio?

Vijay: We see strong opportunities across education, government and enterprises as these sectors continue to adopt digital tools for learning, communication and collaboration. Our expanded GeM presence is an important part of this strategy. We currently have projectors and Interactive Flat Panels available along  with All-in-One Direct View LED displays and 24x7 Professional Non-Touch Displays on the platform.

For education, interactive displays and projection solutions can support more engaging and collaborative learning environments. In government and public-sector organisations, there is an opportunity across meeting rooms, training centres and digital communication. For enterprises, the focus is increasingly on professional displays, collaboration and digital signage. GeM also makes it easier for government departments, educational institutions and public-sector enterprises to access our brand products &  solutions through a streamlined procurement process.

Rajeev: How are AI and smart technologies changing the way customers evaluate and use display solutions across classrooms, workplaces and professional AV environments?

Vijay: The conversation around displays is increasingly moving beyond resolution, brightness and screen size. Customers are looking at how a display fits into their overall technology environment—how easily it can be managed, how it connects with other devices and how it can support collaboration and communication. This is where software and smart capabilities are becoming increasingly important. Optoma is building an ecosystem around Optoma Management Suite, including Optoma AI with a focus on AI-enabled productivity, device management, connectivity and integration.

AI is also changing how displays are being used, particularly in education and collaborative environments. In classrooms, AI-powered displays can help teachers develop content more quickly, use interactive tools and enable real-time content sharing. This is moving displays from being simple information-sharing devices to more interactive and collaborative platforms, where students can participate more actively and engage with learning content.

Similarly, in workplaces and professional AV environments, AI and smart features are helping customers look for displays that can integrate better with existing devices, software and IT systems. The focus is increasingly on creating connected environments that support collaboration, communication and easier device management.

For example, our N-Series displays combine 4K visual performance with an integrated media player and centralized management through OMS. This allows businesses to remotely monitor devices, manage content, schedule power functions and push firmware updates across multiple displays.

In classrooms, the focus is more on interactive learning and collaboration, while enterprises are looking at connected meeting and communication environments. Across professional AV, customers are increasingly looking for solutions that are easier to manage and integrate into their existing IT infrastructure.

Rajeev: What role will channel partners play in Optoma’s next phase of expansion, particularly as the company moves into newer display categories and markets?

Vijay: Our channel partners will remain an important part of Optoma's growth strategy in India. As we expand from traditional projection into Interactive Flat Panels, professional displays, dvLED and integrated visual solutions, the role of partners becomes even more important because these categories often require application-based consultation and local market understanding. Our growth in the Entry Pro AV segment has already been supported by deeper channel partnerships, and we will continue to strengthen this ecosystem as we expand into newer categories and markets.

The next phase is about giving our partners a broader portfolio to take to customers. Instead of addressing only a specific projector requirement, partners can increasingly work with customers across projection, interactive displays, digital signage, large-format displays and other professional AV applications. We also see local manufacturing strengthening this relationship by improving supply-chain responsiveness, product availability and alignment with local procurement requirements.

Ultimately, our aim is to combine Optoma's global technology and product capabilities with our partners' understanding of local customers and markets, allowing us to build a stronger and more integrated visual solutions ecosystem in India.
