Praveer Kochhar, Co-Founder & CPO of KOGO Tech Labs, shares his journey in deep tech, the importance of solving key problems with technology, and preparing for AI-driven transformations in the IT industry.

DT: What has been the most significant achievement in your career as a CPO, and how has it shaped your approach to technology leadership?

Praveer: Having a passion for technology was instrumental in my journey towards leading a deep-tech startup. Technology is central to everything we do. It allows you to create new things every day but also presents some of the most difficult challenges to solve. I can’t really say there’s one significant moment that led me to where I am, but it involves many smaller achievements and successes. What inspires me the most is how technology can be used to solve key problems, and seeing people use it is the biggest reason why I’ve stuck to what I do. When you build solutions that people use and appreciate, the feeling is phenomenal. On a more personal note, technology allows me to work from anywhere, giving me more time to pursue my other passion — motorcycling.

DT: Can you describe a pivotal moment or challenge in your professional journey that greatly influenced your career path or leadership style?

Praveer: One of the primary reasons why I’ve had a varied career is the boredom that comes from the mundane. As a person who appreciates challenges immensely, working with deep tech offers me the fulfilment of solving big problems.

DT: What emerging technology trends do you believe will have the biggest impact on the IT industry shortly, and how are you preparing your organization to adapt to these changes?

Praveer: The world is at an AI tipping point. Shortly, autonomous AI and platforms will change the way we work. That’s because it can work more efficiently than the people who currently handle the mundane processes. While AI is a harbinger of productivity, it will pose a huge challenge for the IT industry and society at large. This brings us to the need for upskilling. Everyone will have to upskill themselves and begin using AI, which is the best possible way to get started in our everyday lives.

AI will also create jobs, but they will be very different kinds of jobs, requiring a lot of creative and problem-solving skills. AI is poised to take over mundane processes, and it will need trained instructors. Just as people who knew how to use computers replaced people who didn’t, this time it will be different as the machine we will use will be intelligent.
