A devastating fire at a residential building in Noida's Mamura village claimed the lives of two people on Wednesday after flames rapidly engulfed the premises. According to police, the fire is suspected to have originated in the ground-floor parking area while an electric vehicle (EV) was being charged, though the exact cause will be confirmed following an official investigation.
The blaze spread swiftly through the parking area, affecting nearby vehicles and generating dense smoke that quickly filled the building. As visibility deteriorated, residents were forced to evacuate, with approximately 50 families moved to safety during the emergency.
Firefighters Launch Swift Rescue Operation
Following reports of the incident, teams from the fire department rushed to the residential complex in Sector 66 and immediately began rescue operations. Firefighters worked to evacuate residents trapped inside the smoke-filled building while simultaneously battling the flames to prevent the fire from spreading further.
After several hours of firefighting efforts, officials succeeded in bringing the blaze under control. Emergency responders also carried out searches within the building to ensure that all occupants had been safely evacuated.
Investigation Underway
Police said preliminary findings suggest the fire may have started while an electric vehicle was on charge in the ground-floor parking area. However, authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact sequence of events and establish the precise cause of the incident.
The tragedy has once again highlighted the importance of fire safety measures in residential buildings, particularly in parking areas where electric vehicles are charged. Experts recommend the use of certified charging equipment, proper electrical infrastructure, and adequate ventilation, along with functioning fire detection and suppression systems, to minimize risks associated with electrical fires.
Authorities are expected to submit a detailed report after completing the investigation, while residents and local officials assess the damage caused by the incident.
