Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district, marking a major milestone in the state's infrastructure development. Built at an estimated cost of nearly ₹5,000 crore, the airport is expected to significantly improve regional connectivity while supporting economic and industrial expansion across North Andhra.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed a grand traditional welcome, with around 13,500 tribal women performing the Dhimsa dance, a renowned folk dance of the tribal communities in Andhra Pradesh. The cultural performance highlighted the region's rich heritage and added a vibrant touch to the launch event.

The Andhra Pradesh government views the Bhogapuram airport as a strategic infrastructure project that will strengthen the region's position as a destination for investment, tourism, and commerce. Improved air connectivity is expected to enhance access to Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam, while supporting industrial corridors and emerging business clusters.
