A massive landslide, triggered by incessant heavy rainfall, struck the Kalpetta Tunnel project site in Wayanad, Kerala, leaving at least seven workers feared trapped beneath the debris. Rescue teams are carrying out emergency operations as authorities race against time to reach those missing.

The landslide occurred at the Kalpetta Tunnel construction site, where heavy rain caused a large section of earth and debris to collapse.
According to the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), the debris blocked nearby roads, hampering access to the affected area.
Rescue Operations in Full Swing
Emergency response teams have launched rescue operations on a war footing to locate and evacuate the trapped workers.
Officials confirmed that five people sustained injuries in the incident and have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Authorities are continuing search efforts amid challenging weather conditions.
Chief Minister Reviews Situation
Following the landslide, Kerala Chief Minister convened an emergency meeting and instructed state ministers and officials to coordinate immediate rescue and relief measures.
