A startling incident has emerged from Raigad district in Maharashtra, where around 3,000 LPG gas cylinders were swept away by floodwaters following heavy rainfall. A video showing the cylinders floating in a river has gone viral on social media.
3,000 LPG Cylinders Swept Away
The incident occurred near the HPCL Patalganga LPG Bottling Plant in Chawane village of Panvel taluka, where the Patalganga River overflowed due to incessant rains.
The strong currents carried thousands of LPG cylinders downstream, creating a dramatic and potentially hazardous situation.
Heavy Rain Triggers Flooding
Continuous heavy rainfall in the region caused the river's water level to rise rapidly, leading to flooding around the bottling plant and washing away the cylinders.
Authorities are monitoring the situation and assessing the extent of the damage.
Safety Measures Underway
Officials are working to recover the cylinders and ensure public safety. Residents living near the river have been advised to stay away from any floating cylinders and immediately inform authorities if any are found.
There have been no immediate reports of explosions or casualties linked to the incident.
