Anthropic has announced a major industry-wide initiative titled Project Glasswing, designed to strengthen global software security through advanced artificial intelligence and deep collaboration with leading technology and financial institutions. The program brings together some of the world’s most influential technology players, including Amazon Web Services, Apple, Google, Microsoft, NVIDIA, Cisco, and JPMorgan Chase, along with additional partners from the cybersecurity and open source ecosystem.

At the core of the initiative is Claude Mythos Preview, described as Anthropic’s most advanced frontier AI model to date, purpose built to identify, analyze, and help remediate software vulnerabilities at scale. According to details shared by the company, the model has already demonstrated strong early results, uncovering thousands of high severity vulnerabilities across widely used operating systems and web browsers.

Frontier AI Positioned at the Center of Cyber Defense

Project Glasswing is positioned as a coordinated effort to integrate AI directly into defensive cybersecurity workflows. Launch partners include major infrastructure and security organizations such as Linux Foundation, CrowdStrike, and Palo Alto Networks, alongside cloud and semiconductor leaders.

Anthropic stated that participating organizations are already using Claude Mythos Preview to enhance vulnerability detection and strengthen critical systems that support global digital infrastructure. The initiative is also designed to create a shared feedback loop, where insights gained from real world deployment are used to improve defensive security capabilities across the industry.

Anthony Grieco, SVP & Chief Security & Trust Officer, Cisco said, “AI capabilities have crossed a threshold that fundamentally changes the urgency required to protect critical infrastructure from cyber threats, and there is no going back. Our foundational work with these models has shown we can identify and fix security vulnerabilities across hardware and software at a pace and scale previously impossible. That is a profound shift, and a clear signal that the old ways of hardening systems are no longer sufficient. Providers of technology must aggressively adopt new approaches now, and customers need to be ready to deploy. That is why Cisco joined Project Glasswing-this work is too important and too urgent to do alone.”

Amy Herzog, Vice President, CISO at Amazon Web Services said, “At AWS, we build defenses before threats emerge, from our custom silicon up through the technology stack. Security isn't a phase for us; it's continuous and embedded in everything we do. Our teams analyze over 400 trillion network flows every day for threats, and AI is central to our ability to defend at scale. We've been testing Claude Mythos Preview in our own security operations, applying it to critical codebases, where it's already helping us strengthen our code. We're bringing deep security expertise to our partnership with Anthropic and are helping to harden Claude Mythos Preview so even more organizations can advance their most ambitious work with security that sets the standard.”

Large Scale Access Expansion for Critical Infrastructure Protection

As part of the rollout, Anthropic is extending access to more than 40 organizations responsible for maintaining essential software infrastructure worldwide. This includes entities involved in open source development, enterprise security, and core internet services.

To accelerate adoption, Anthropic has committed up to 100 million dollars in usage credits, along with 4 million dollars in direct support for open source security organizations. The company stated that this funding is intended to remove barriers for defenders and enable broader use of AI powered security tools.

Industry Wide Collaboration for a Safer Software Ecosystem

Project Glasswing reflects a growing consensus across the technology sector that securing modern software systems requires coordinated action. By bringing together cloud providers, chipmakers, cybersecurity firms, and financial institutions, Anthropic aims to establish a shared defensive framework powered by frontier AI.

The company emphasized that no single organization can address global software vulnerabilities alone. Instead, the initiative relies on collaboration between AI developers, infrastructure providers, security researchers, open source maintainers, and policy stakeholders to build a more resilient digital ecosystem.

With Claude Mythos Preview at its core, Project Glasswing signals a significant step toward embedding AI directly into the foundation of global cybersecurity defense strategies.
