In a major step that signals the accelerating race to scale artificial intelligence infrastructure, Anthropic has announced an expanded strategic partnership with Google and Broadcom to deploy multiple gigawatts of next generation TPU compute capacity beginning in 2027. The move is designed to support the rapid growth of Claude models and meet surging global enterprise demand for advanced AI systems.
The expansion represents one of Anthropic’s largest compute commitments to date and underscores the intensifying competition among leading AI developers to secure long term high performance infrastructure at scale.
Massive expansion of frontier AI compute capacity
Under the new agreement, Anthropic will access multi gigawatt scale TPU infrastructure developed in collaboration with Google and Broadcom. The capacity is expected to come online progressively starting in 2027 and will significantly increase the company’s ability to train and deploy frontier Claude models.
According to the company, the majority of the new infrastructure will be located in the United States, aligning with its broader strategy to strengthen domestic AI compute capabilities. This expansion builds on Anthropic’s earlier commitment announced in November 2025 to invest 50 billion dollars in US based computing infrastructure.
“This groundbreaking partnership with Google and Broadcom is a continuation of our disciplined approach to scaling infrastructure: we are building the capacity necessary to serve the exponential growth we have seen in our customer base while also enabling Claude to define the frontier of AI development,” said Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic. “We are making our most significant compute commitment to date to keep pace with our unprecedented growth.”
Explosive growth in Claude demand across enterprise customers
Anthropic reported a sharp acceleration in demand for Claude based services throughout 2026. The company stated that its annualized run rate revenue has surpassed 30 billion dollars, a substantial increase from approximately 9 billion dollars at the end of 2025.
Enterprise adoption has also expanded rapidly. At the time of its Series G fundraising in February, Anthropic reported that more than 500 business customers were spending over 1 million dollars annually on Claude services. That figure has now doubled to over 1,000 enterprise customers in less than two months, reflecting strong momentum across global industries adopting generative AI.
Multi cloud strategy strengthens resilience and performance
Anthropic continues to differentiate its infrastructure strategy through a diversified compute approach. The company trains and runs Claude models across multiple hardware ecosystems, including Amazon Web Services Trainium, Google TPUs, and NVIDIA GPUs.
This multi platform strategy allows workloads to be distributed based on performance efficiency, cost optimization, and resilience requirements. Anthropic stated that this flexibility enhances system reliability for enterprise customers relying on Claude for mission critical applications.
The company also confirmed that Amazon remains its primary cloud provider and training partner, with continued collaboration under Project Rainier.
Broad cloud availability across major platforms
Claude continues to maintain a rare position in the global AI ecosystem as the only frontier model family available across all three major hyperscale cloud platforms. This includes deployment through Amazon Web Services Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Azure Foundry.
Industry analysts view this broad availability as a key competitive advantage, enabling enterprises to integrate Claude into existing cloud environments without major infrastructure changes.
Strategic significance for global AI infrastructure
The expanded partnership highlights a broader industry trend where AI model developers are increasingly locking in long term compute agreements to secure future capacity. With demand for large language models continuing to accelerate, access to specialized hardware such as TPUs and GPUs has become a critical strategic asset.
By deepening its relationships with Google and Broadcom while maintaining multi cloud flexibility, Anthropic is positioning itself to support the next generation of AI workloads at unprecedented scale.
As 2027 approaches, the rollout of multi gigawatt TPU infrastructure is expected to become a defining milestone in the evolution of frontier AI systems and enterprise AI adoption worldwide.
