Adani Defence & Aerospace, the defence arm of Adani Enterprises Ltd. (AEL), has laid the foundation for a ₹2,500 crore defence manufacturing facility in Shivpuri, Madhya Pradesh, aimed at creating South Asia's largest private-sector missile ecosystem.

The project is expected to significantly strengthen India's indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities while generating employment and boosting the local industrial ecosystem.

Integrated Missile Manufacturing Hub

The upcoming facility will establish an end-to-end missile production ecosystem by bringing together critical manufacturing capabilities at a single location.

The project will include:

  • Composite propellant manufacturing

  • Trinitrotoluene (TNT) production

  • Missile system integration

  • Advanced defence manufacturing infrastructure

According to the company, this integrated setup is a first-of-its-kind initiative in India's private defence sector and is expected to enhance the country's ability to manufacture indigenous missile systems at scale.

5,000 Employment Opportunities

The investment is projected to create approximately 5,000 direct and indirect skilled jobs, while also opening new business opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the defence supply chain.

The project is expected to contribute to the development of a robust defence manufacturing cluster in Madhya Pradesh.

Strengthening India's Defence Supply Chain

The Shivpuri facility aims to bridge a critical gap in India's defence ecosystem by integrating the production of key missile materials with final system assembly.

This approach is expected to:

  • Reduce dependence on imports

  • Strengthen indigenous defence manufacturing

  • Improve supply chain efficiency

  • Support faster induction of domestically produced missile systems for the Indian Armed Forces

The project aligns with India's broader 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' and Make in India initiatives focused on expanding domestic defence production.

Government Welcomes Investment

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the investment reinforces the state's position as a preferred destination for strategic manufacturing and will accelerate industrial development while strengthening India's self-reliance in defence production.

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia described the project as the beginning of a new industrial chapter for the Shivpuri-Guna region, highlighting its potential to generate high-quality employment and build a long-term industrial ecosystem.

A Major Boost for India's Defence Manufacturing

As India continues to expand domestic defence production and reduce reliance on imports, large-scale investments in missile manufacturing, aerospace, and strategic technologies are expected to play a crucial role in building a globally competitive defence ecosystem.
