India's explosive opener Abhishek Sharma added another milestone to his rapidly growing career on Wednesday by becoming the fastest batter in T20 International history to hit 100 sixes. The landmark came during the opening T20I against England, further cementing his reputation as one of cricket's most aggressive power-hitters.
Opening the innings alongside Sanju Samson, the left-handed batter wasted little time in making his presence felt. Abhishek needed just two sixes in his innings to reach the milestone, achieving it in only 785 deliveries, the quickest ever by any batter in T20Is.
World Record Falls in Just 785 Balls
With the achievement, Abhishek surpassed West Indies batter Evin Lewis, who previously held the record after reaching 100 T20I sixes in 789 deliveries.
The new benchmark highlights Abhishek's fearless batting approach and remarkable consistency in clearing the boundary, making him the fastest player to the century of maximums in the shortest format of international cricket.
Elite Company Among Power-Hitters
The race to 100 T20I sixes features some of the game's biggest hitters, but Abhishek now sits comfortably at the top of the list.
Fastest to 100 T20I Sixes (by balls faced):
Abhishek Sharma (India) – 785 balls
Evin Lewis (West Indies) – 789 balls
Finn Allen (New Zealand) – 871 balls
Among players representing Full Member nations, New Zealand's Finn Allen previously ranked among the fastest after reaching the milestone earlier this year.
A Rising Star in India's T20 Setup
Abhishek Sharma has emerged as one of India's most exciting white-ball talents, earning praise for his fearless stroke play and ability to dominate bowling attacks from the outset. His aggressive batting style has made him a valuable asset at the top of the order, particularly in the powerplay overs.
The latest record further strengthens his credentials as India continues to build a dynamic T20 squad capable of competing at the highest level in global tournaments.
