Anthropic has announced that its Claude AI models will soon be available with in-country inference in India through Amazon Bedrock, enabling enterprises and government organizations to process AI workloads while keeping data within the country. The move is aimed at addressing the growing demand for secure, compliant, and locally hosted AI services, particularly in highly regulated sectors such as banking, financial services, insurance, and the public sector.
The company said the new capability will be rolled out over the coming weeks, allowing Indian organizations to deploy Claude AI models with greater confidence while meeting local data residency and compliance requirements.
Enabling Secure AI Adoption for Regulated Industries
With in-country inference, organizations can run Claude AI models within India, helping them meet regulatory requirements around data governance and privacy. The capability is expected to accelerate AI adoption among enterprises that require sensitive information to remain within national borders.
According to Anthropic, the offering is particularly valuable for organizations operating in regulated industries where data control, compliance, and security are critical for deploying AI solutions at scale rather than limiting them to pilot projects.
Claude deployments through Amazon Bedrock will also include enterprise-grade security features such as audit trails and access controls, providing compliance and risk management teams with greater visibility into AI operations.
India Emerges as a Strategic Growth Market
Anthropic described India as one of its largest global markets, driven by a rapidly growing developer ecosystem and increasing enterprise adoption of generative AI technologies.
The company noted that Indian developers are building some of the most technically advanced AI applications globally, making the country an important part of its long-term growth strategy.
The announcement builds on Anthropic's expanding presence in India following the opening of its Bengaluru office earlier this year, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the country's growing AI ecosystem.
Irina Ghose, Managing Director of India, Anthropic said, “Bringing Claude inference to India is a turning point for enterprise AI in this country. India’s banks, insurers, telecoms, public and government agencies steward the data of a billion people. When that data can stay in India, AI moves from pilots into the systems that matter most. Adding in-country inference marks a significant step forward in what we are building here — a growing local team, strong performance in Indian languages, and partnerships that put this technology to work for India.”
Sandeep Dutta, President, AWS India and South Asia said, "India is at an inflection point in its AI journey, and institutions from banks to government agencies are ready to harness frontier AI at scale. With Anthropic's Claude now available for in-country inferencing through Amazon Bedrock, they can deploy it on the same trusted infrastructure they already run their most critical workloads on, unlocking new possibilities in citizen services and digital transformation."
Leading Enterprises Already Deploying Claude
Several leading Indian organizations are already leveraging Claude AI across a range of enterprise applications.
"We are glad to see partners like Anthropic and AWS bringing in-country inference to India. Access to trusted, frontier AI closer to home is a positive step for the ecosystem as we all explore how these technologies can responsibly serve customers", said Ashok Vaswani, Managing Director & CEO of Kotak Bank.
Axis Bank is using Claude to improve engineering productivity and employee efficiency, while NPCI is developing its AiNxt agentic AI platform using Claude's capabilities. IndusInd Bank is building an AI-powered enterprise knowledge platform, and Godrej Industries is deploying Claude across software development, business analysis, and internal knowledge management.
These deployments highlight the growing adoption of enterprise AI across banking, financial services, manufacturing, and digital transformation initiatives.
Strengthening the AI Partner Ecosystem
Anthropic is also investing in its partner ecosystem to accelerate AI adoption across India.
Following the global launch of the Claude Partner Network in March 2026, India emerged as one of the fastest-growing markets in terms of partner registrations. A growing number of Indian technology partners have since achieved Global Premier, Preferred, and Select partner status.
As part of its expansion strategy, Anthropic is conducting its first Claude Certification for Partners in Bengaluru this week, with the objective of certifying 5,000 professionals who will help enterprises deploy AI solutions across industries.
Driving the Next Phase of Enterprise AI
The introduction of in-country inference represents another significant step in Anthropic's India strategy, enabling enterprises to deploy advanced AI models while meeting evolving regulatory and compliance expectations.
As organizations increasingly integrate AI into mission-critical business operations, locally hosted inference capabilities are expected to play an important role in accelerating enterprise adoption, strengthening data governance, and supporting India's rapidly expanding AI ecosystem.
