Varun Bansal Takes on Expanded Role as Head of IT for India and APAC at Bata India

Bata India has expanded the responsibilities of Varun Bansal, who has been appointed Head of IT for India and APAC, reinforcing the company's commitment to strengthening its technology leadership and accelerating digital transformation across the region.

In his expanded role, Bansal will lead technology strategy and IT operations across India and key Asia Pacific markets. He will oversee technology initiatives supporting Bata's extensive network of retail stores, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, digital commerce platforms, and corporate operations. His mandate includes driving enterprise-wide digital transformation, enhancing cybersecurity, modernizing technology infrastructure, and improving operational resilience across the region.

With more than two decades of experience in enterprise IT, Bansal has built expertise across technology strategy, digital transformation, SAP implementation, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, AI, automation, data analytics, and omnichannel retail technologies.

Before joining Bata India, he spent nearly seven years at Philips, where he led large-scale digital transformation programs spanning commercial operations, manufacturing, research and development, and shared services across India and the Asia Pacific region.

His professional journey also includes senior leadership positions at Kohler Co., Stryker, and Infosys, where he gained extensive experience in enterprise technology modernization, business transformation, and strategic IT leadership.

In addition to his strong technical background, Bansal brings management expertise backed by his education at IIM Lucknow, enabling him to align technology investments with broader business objectives.
