Swiggy has elevated Nitesh Garg as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) – Instamart, strengthening the quick-commerce business’s technology leadership as it enters its next phase of growth and intensifies its focus on engineering, AI, platform scalability, and operational efficiency.

In his new role, Garg will lead Instamart’s technology and engineering organisation, overseeing the technology platforms that power its consumer experience, supply-chain operations and core business functions. His expanded mandate will cover areas including platform engineering, technology architecture, reliability, and the continued use of AI and technology to improve customer experience and operational efficiency.

Garg will also be responsible for scaling the technology foundation supporting Instamart’s rapidly expanding operations, while driving engineering excellence and building platforms capable of supporting the evolving requirements of the quick-commerce business.

Technology Leader Behind Instamart’s Engineering Foundation

Garg has spent more than seven years at Swiggy and has led the engineering function for Instamart since its early stages. During this period, he has played a key role in building the technology infrastructure behind the business, spanning consumer-facing products and supply-chain systems.

His work has also included building and scaling platforms supporting advertising, pricing, discounting and cataloguing, giving him extensive experience across the technology systems that underpin Instamart’s business operations.

Before joining Swiggy, Garg held engineering leadership roles at Practo and InMobi. Earlier in his career, he worked with Oracle, Summa Technologies, Deloitte Consulting and WiredTime.com.

His experience spans technology strategy, engineering leadership, scalable architecture, platform development and digital innovation, providing a strong foundation for his expanded leadership responsibilities at Instamart.

Technology Takes Centre Stage in Instamart’s Next Growth Phase

Garg’s elevation comes as Swiggy strengthens Instamart’s senior leadership team amid an increasingly competitive quick-commerce market. The company has recently appointed Nandita Sinha as Instamart CEO and Gautam Swaroop as Chief Business Officer, alongside other leadership changes aimed at sharpening growth and execution.

With Instamart competing with major players including Blinkit, Zepto, Flipkart Minutes and Amazon Now, technology remains central to improving fulfilment, supply-chain efficiency, customer experience and overall operating performance.

As CTO, Garg is expected to play a pivotal role in scaling Instamart’s technology capabilities, strengthening engineering execution and exploring new opportunities around AI and automation.

His elevation also reflects Swiggy’s continued reliance on experienced internal leadership as it builds a deeper technology and business leadership structure for Instamart’s next stage of expansion.
