Katti brings a unique blend of academic and industry expertise to his new position. Before this elevation, he served Intel as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Network and Edge Group, and earlier as the CTO of the same division. He also worked at O-RAN Alliance as a Technical Steering Board Co-Chair for almost seven years.
Before that, as a tenured professor at Stanford University for over 15 years, Katti has led cutting-edge research in wireless systems and networking. He is also the founder of Uhana, an AI-powered network analytics platform acquired by VMware, and co-founded Kumu Networks, known for its invention work in full-duplex wireless communication.
Sachin Katti started his professional journey as a Research Assistant at MIT and spent 5 years, followed by his association with UC Berkeley as a Postdoctoral Scholar. Next, he founded xRAN Forum. It promotes a software-based Radio Access Network to standardize critical elements of its architecture. Katti joined Stanford University as an Assistant Professor and spent over 15 years becoming an Associate Professor. All his research work is available in the public domain and easily accessible for the public to learn and grow.
Being a scholar in technology, he was an Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay alumni. Later, he pursued a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a seasoned professional with expertise in Algorithms, Networking, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Wireless Networking, Signal Processing, Distributed Systems, Simulations, Artificial Intelligence, and others.
In his expanded role at Intel, Katti will oversee the company’s AI research, roadmap development, and product innovation through Intel Labs. He is also expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening Intel’s ecosystem by fostering closer collaboration with startups, developers, and academic partners to drive AI forward on par.
