Ericsson has announced the four finalists for the Ericsson Innovation Awards 2018, a global competition that invites university students to collaborate with Ericsson experts to envision the future of ICT.
Aligning with this year’s Nobel Week Dialogue, the theme for the competition “The Future of Truth” challenged students to address how technology can improve the way we find, validate, and share truth in the age of ICT.
More than 1400 university teams representing 107 countries entered the competition to present their innovative solutions and four teams have now emerged as the finalists including Team TL;DR from India. TL;DR’s platform summarizes and simplifies user agreements to help consumers make informed decisions.
TL;DR team comprises of Kumar Neelabh, Prashasti Sharma, Shaurya Chaturvedi and Yashish Dua – who are students of IIT Delhi, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University and Delhi Technological University. The other finalist teams in the competition are from USA, China and Senegal. With more than EUR 50,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs, the four finalist teams will compete in the Grand Final Event at the Nobel Museum in Stockholm, Sweden on May 17, 2018 when the winner will be selected.

OwnLabs- Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique de Dakar and Université de Ziguinchor, Senegal | OwnLabs is building virtual science labs for communities without the funds to build their own physical labs. |

Last year, the Ericsson Innovation Award 2017 was won by another team from India named, Team SNAP –from IIT Roorkee. Team Snap’s entry was around providing farmers with real-time data on soil analytics enabling them to select appropriate fertilizers.
