Oracle India Announces Expansion in India to Boost Cloud Business

Oracle India announced that it plans to hire more than 200 sales professionals to accelerate and ramp up its cloud business in the country. This comes on the heels of strong quarterly earnings driven by cloud revenue. Oracle Cloud delivers the industry’s broadest suite of enterprise-grade public cloud services, including data as a service (DaaS), software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and infrastructure as a service (IaaS) so that customers can tackle cloud adoption head on.

In support of Oracle’s mission to become the #1 cloud provider in the world and to rapidly grow its cloud business in India, Oracle India is expanding its cloud sales organization to include more specialized sales, business development, and post sales support executives. Hiring will take place across Oracle’s nine sales offices throughout India.

Oracle employs professionals in India across sales and marketing, R&D, consulting, direct sales for international markets, global support, and global financial and accounting operations. This additional sales force will be dedicated to helping customers transition to the cloud.

Cloud Becomes Mainstream Among Indian Firmsv

· Around the world, consumers and business customers are becoming more sophisticated and demanding. Social-mobile technologies are driving more and more of their spending and their 20- year-old IT systems are unable to handle these modern tools and applications. Cloud is therefore gaining traction as the alternate form of enterprise computing.

· Oracle Cloud services across human capital management (HCM), sales automation (CRM), ERP, marketing, analytics, database, and Java, among many other technology areas, are gaining momentum as the preferred cloud solution among a multitude of Indian firms – those running legacy systems, as well as new firms and start-ups.

· Large organizations like Apollo Hospitals, Bharti Learning, HDFC Bank, Maruti Motors, Hero MotoCorp are deploying various Oracle Cloud solutions in a hybrid model (private or public cloud with on-premises).

“As part of our commitment to provide the most innovative technologies and expert customer support, we are building a dedicated team of sales personnel and domain experts to service the vast opportunity for cloud in India,” said Shailender Kumar, Managing Director, Oracle India. “With our unmatched cloud portfolio comprising Daas, SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS, we are uniquely positioned to cater to customers in the private and public sectors. Oracle is at the helm of this transformation and we are bullish about this business in India.”

According to Niraj Kaushik, Vice President, Applications Business, Oracle India, ‘We can now confidently say that cloud has arrived in India. Companies today specifically ask for cloud solution options in addition to traditional computing technologies. This is a big shift in customer demand. While we are investing heavily in the development of cloud solutions and in building a workforce for cloud, our biggest value to our customers is that we continue to invest in on-premises business applications too, to ensure their investments reap business value.”
