Convergence Expo 2020 Postponed Due Outbreak of Coronavirus in China

Amidst the growing threat due to exposure of coronavirus in China, 28th edition of Convergence India expo has been postponed for now as a precautionary measure by the organiser. The Convergence India expo was co-located with other important expos including the Internet of Things India expo, Embedded Tech India expo, Mobile India expo, Fintech India expo as well as the Gamethon expo and were to take place from 19-21 February 2020 at Pragati Manidan, New Delhi.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has advised that the respiratory virus outbreak in China is a global emergency and every country should stay alert to not let this deadly virus spread. Till now in more than 200 people have died, with about 9,800 infections confirmed.

Pramit Kumar, Vice President, Exhibitions India Group said, “Exhibitions India Group is strongly committed to provide robust safety to all our exhibitors and visitors, and to support the government’s efforts in controlling the coronavirus outbreak. The health of our show attendees is our primary concern. As a precautionary measure, we are rescheduling the 28th Convergence India 2020 and the co-located expos and are working with the show venue management for new dates, which will be advised shortly. We believe our decision is most prudent under the current circumstance, and look forward to your co-operation and understanding.”

As of now, eighteen Chinese cities are locked down to contain the virus, and countries worldwide are taking steps to prevent spread of a global pandemic. The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, has escalated its health warning to level 2, an alert to a potential threat, and recommends enhanced precautions as the coronavirus continues to spread – advising individuals to avoid all non-essential travel to Asian countries. Some cases have been observed in India, and it is recommended to limit exposure in large congregations until the virus is contained. 

As a precautionary measure, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) and Exhibition India Group has rescheduled the 28th Convergence India from 19-21 February 2020, and are working with the show venue management for new dates, which will be disclosed soon.
