The Electronics and Semiconductor sector is experiencing significant growth in India. Factors such as rising demand for consumer electronics, the automotive industry's shift towards electric vehicles, and government initiatives like "Make in India" and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme are driving domestic manufacturing and attracting foreign investments.

On Friday, July 12, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, along with Minister of IT and BT Department Priyank Kharge, organized a breakfast meeting. They met with members of the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), 200 IT heads, and representatives from the biotech, electronics, semiconductor industries, and various startups to discuss the upcoming Bengaluru Tech Summit. The summit, scheduled for November 19-21, will feature ‘Semiconductor and Electronics’ as one of its core focus areas. This year's summit will emphasize B2B meetings to foster productive discussions and generate substantial employment opportunities in Karnataka.

Dr. V Veerappan, Chairman of IESA, welcomed the decision taken by the Government of Karnataka saying, “It is a promising step that will bring together all stakeholders of the ESDM ecosystem. This move is expected to strengthen India's position during a pivotal time in the global semiconductor industry.”

During the breakfast meeting with the Chief Minister and other dignitaries, IESA President Ashok Chandak presented a set of recommendations to the Karnataka CM and the Minister of IT and BT. He emphasized the growth prospects and business opportunities within the Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) sector in the state. He said, “We are confident that with the government's support, the state will be able to capitalize on this momentum for value chain resilience and creation. IESA is dedicated to ensuring the success of the ESDM sector showcase at BTS with exhibitors and conference speakers.”

Since 2005, the India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) has been a leading industry body advocating for the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry. IESA plays a pivotal role in advancing India's electronics and semiconductor sectors by fostering collaboration between the government, academia, and industry. At the forefront of driving growth and development in ESDM, IESA is committed to charting a roadmap towards achieving the vision of a "Viksit Bharat 2047" (Developed India 2047).

Over the past 20 years of its establishment, IESA has been committed to raising global awareness of the Indian ESDM industry and bolstering its growth via targeted ecosystem development initiatives. This includes hosting networking events, publishing credible data, and forming alliances with international associations.
