

Amid the AI Action Summit held in Paris, France, Indian Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi met with Google CEO Mr. Sundar Pichai to talk over the transformative opportunities AI can bring to India. The Indian-origin Alphabet executive was ecstatic while sharing his excitement on the social media portal X (previously Twitter). He posted, “Delighted to meet with PM @narendramodi today while in Paris for the AI Action Summit. We discussed the incredible opportunities AI will bring to India and ways we can work closely together on India’s digital transformation.”
The two prominent leaders discussed their mutual interest in exploring collaboration opportunities between Google and India, aiming to bolster “digital transformation” in the Indian IT landscape.
Notably, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi co-chaired the AI Action Summit Paris alongside President of France Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday, 11th February.
Reciprocating to the Sundar Pichai’s post, PM Modi responded, “Glad to have met you @sundarpichai. India is making remarkable strides in AI, leveraging it for public good. We urge the world to come and invest in our nation and bet on our Yuva Shakti!”
The IT industry hopes high from the meeting between two leading figures in terms of Indian growth chances in the field of Artificial Intelligence technology. It is anticipated that this meeting in Paris will bring golden chances for enhanced collaboration and innovation opportunities from an Indian perspective, particularly in digital transformation.
Industry stakeholders expect that this high-level dialogue will pave way for the improved regulatory frameworks, and strategic policy initiatives, along with bigger investment possibilities in Indian tech infrastructure.

During Tuesday's session at the summit, PM Modi acknowledged the pressing need for collective global efforts to create a sound framework for AI. Also, he advocated for the rights of AI of all including the global south. He also showed his belief in the demand for global development to promote enhanced trust, transparency, and unbiased decision-making, utilizing Artificial Intelligence technology.
PM Modi stressed upon the collaboration among countries, industry leaders, and technical pioneers as an essential tool for leveraging AI's transformative potential responsibly. He vocalized the need for adopting open-source methodologies so that the global community can make AI systems secure, accessible, and ethically aligned with societal values, to pave the way for sustainable digital transformation across the globe.
Last time, PM Modi interacted with Sundar Pichai in the CEO Roundtable, hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, School of Engineering. The tech roundtable discussed AI and Quantum; Computing, IT, and Communication; Biotechnology and Life Sciences; and Semiconductor technologies.
