OpenAI has announced the appointment of Vasundhara Mudgil as India Communications Lead, marking a strategic milestone in the company’s growing focus on India’s rapidly evolving technology and innovation landscape.
In her new role, Vasundhara will be based in Mumbai and will lead OpenAI’s communications strategy across India, driving initiatives to strengthen awareness, foster public dialogue, and shape narratives around artificial intelligence, innovation, and responsible technology use.
With more than 15 years of experience across global technology and media organizations, Vasundhara brings deep expertise in storytelling, brand building, content strategy, and reputation management. Her leadership will play a key role in enhancing OpenAI’s engagement with India’s thriving developer community, enterprises, policymakers, and broader society as AI adoption accelerates nationwide.
Reflecting on her new role, Vasundhara Mudgil shared in a LinkedIn post, “After seven fantastic years at Spotify, I’m set for the next challenge at OpenAI. An immense amount of learning to apply, and even more unlearning to do, but always such a thrill to be a part of the market’s core growth team!”
Before joining OpenAI, Vasundhara served as Head of Communications at Spotify India, where she was instrumental in shaping the company’s market entry and driving sustained brand growth over seven years. Her career also includes leading communications for Intel Corporation, and an early tenure at Genesis Burson-Marsteller, where she managed strategy for leading clients in the technology, telecom, and corporate sectors.
A graduate of IE Business School, Vasundhara is widely recognized for her ability to connect creative storytelling with strategic business imperatives. Her appointment underscores OpenAI’s long-term vision for India as a hub of innovation, collaboration, and responsible AI development.
The appointment comes as OpenAI continues to expand its presence and partnerships worldwide, strengthening its mission to ensure that artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
