IBM Consulting has elevated Harish Bharti to Chief Technology Officer for Asia Pacific, expanding his technology leadership mandate as enterprises across the region accelerate investments in artificial intelligence, cloud transformation and modern technology architectures.
In his new role, Bharti will focus on helping enterprises and financial institutions across Asia Pacific address complex technology challenges, scale AI initiatives and develop technology solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes.
Bharti recently announced the leadership move, highlighting his focus on helping organisations rethink how technology can operate at scale as AI adoption moves from experimentation towards enterprise-wide implementation.
A key priority will be supporting organisations in developing agentic AI systems capable of operating reliably in production environments, reflecting the growing shift from AI demonstrations and pilots to dependable business applications.
Commenting on his appointment, Harish Bharti shared a LinkedIn post announcing his new role at IBM Consulting. He said, “I've been appointed Chief Technology Officer for IBM Consulting, Asia Pacific. It's a real privilege, and I don't take it lightly. APAC is a genuinely exciting place to be doing this work. The banks and enterprises here aren't just adopting AI, they're rethinking how they run on it, and at real scale.”
Driving AI from Experimentation to Enterprise Scale
Bharti’s expanded mandate comes at a critical stage for enterprise technology. Organisations across Asia Pacific are increasingly moving beyond generative AI experimentation and evaluating how AI can be integrated into core business processes.
As CTO for IBM Consulting Asia Pacific, Bharti will work with organisations navigating this transition, with a focus on enterprise architecture, AI adoption, modernisation and scalable technology solutions.
His emphasis on agentic AI is particularly significant as enterprises explore AI systems capable of executing multi-step tasks, interacting with business applications and supporting complex workflows with greater autonomy.
The challenge for organisations, however, is moving these capabilities into production while maintaining reliability, security, governance and measurable business value.
More Than Two Decades of Technology Experience
Bharti brings more than 22 years of experience in designing and implementing technology solutions across complex enterprise environments. Before taking on his expanded regional CTO mandate, he served as IBM Consulting CTO for Asia Pacific while also holding the positions of IBM Distinguished Engineer and Master Inventor.
His career at IBM has spanned technology strategy, enterprise architecture, cloud transformation, application modernisation and innovation. He has previously served as Chief Architect for IBM’s Global Solutioning Center of Excellence and Lead Architect for the Application Innovation Services Cloud Program, working across large-scale enterprise transformation initiatives.
His technical expertise includes cloud-native architecture, data architecture and the design of technology platforms for complex business environments.
A Strong Track Record in Technology Innovation
Bharti’s technology leadership is also reflected in his work as an IBM Master Inventor. His patent portfolio covers a broad range of technologies, including cloud computing, blockchain, cognitive computing, microservices, mobility, digital integration and the Internet of Things.
Bharti recently shared that his portfolio had reached 129 filed patents, with 91 granted, further highlighting his long-standing contribution to enterprise technology innovation. His recent inventions have also focused on areas such as AI-driven insights for edge computing. Public patent records show his involvement in technologies related to multi-cloud application optimisation, event processing, observability, edge computing and AI.
Several patents associated with his work have been granted as recently as 2026, demonstrating his continued involvement in emerging technology development.
From Enterprise Architecture to AI Leadership
Before joining IBM, Bharti worked as a SOA Architect at Walmart. He began his professional career as a Software Engineer with LTI – Larsen & Toubro Infotech. The experience helped build a technology leadership profile spanning software engineering, enterprise architecture, cloud platforms, application modernisation and emerging technologies.
At IBM, this background has translated into extensive experience helping large organisations navigate complex technology transformations. His new regional mandate now places that expertise at the centre of IBM Consulting’s efforts to help enterprises operationalise AI and modern technology at scale.
