Tamil Nadu’s economic momentum in recent years has been closely tied to the rapid industrial transformation of Sriperumbudur. Once known primarily as a quiet semi rural locality, the region has steadily evolved into one of the most influential manufacturing ecosystems in Tamil Nadu. The industrial corridor today plays a decisive role in supporting the state’s strong economic expansion, which touched an estimated growth rate of about 11.2% during the 2024 to 2025 period.

A major driver behind this transformation has been the concentration of global technology and electronics manufacturers that have established large production facilities in the region. Companies such as Samsung, Foxconn and Dell have set up extensive operations, creating a thriving industrial ecosystem supported by numerous component suppliers and logistics partners. This cluster driven model has enabled the region to serve both domestic markets and international export demand.

The manufacturing boom has also positioned Sriperumbudur as a significant employment hub. Industrial operations across the region are estimated to support more than 70,000 jobs, spanning assembly line roles, technical positions, engineering functions and supply chain management. The steady expansion of manufacturing has also encouraged skill development initiatives, strengthening the availability of trained professionals needed to sustain high technology production environments.

In a press release statement, Shailesh Khanna from ManpowerGroup highlighted the broader economic impact of such industrial ecosystems. He stated, “The Sriperumbudur story reinforces a critical policy insight that manufacturing led growth delivers its greatest impact when job creation is paired with skill development, fair wages and long term workforce investment.”

Shailesh Khanna further added, “Companies like Samsung Electronics demonstrate how early, sustained industrial investments can transform regional economies - not just by creating employment but by formalising livelihoods, raising income and improving workforce productivity."

With global manufacturers continuing to expand their presence and the local talent base steadily strengthening, Sriperumbudur is increasingly emerging as a cornerstone of India’s manufacturing ambitions and a major contributor to Tamil Nadu’s long term economic growth.
