Former Peak XV Executive Ms. Shweta Rajpal Kohli addresses the challenges founders face while taking their startups with the launch of the first of its kind - the Startup Policy Forum. Scheduled to debut on January 16, National Startup Day, the forum aims to support India's startup ecosystem by fostering collaboration among policymakers, founders, and regulators, as per the reports.
Initially, the initiative will begin with a select 100 startups, while onboarding 30 startups as core members including fintech firms such as CRED, Pine Labs, and Razorpay, and omnichannel retailer Bluestone and on-demand food-delivery firm Swiggy.
The SPF consists of four councils for initiatives to the specific sectors including the Fintech Policy Council (FPC), the Emerging Tech & AI Council (ETAC), the Consumer & Commerce Council (CACC), and the New-Age Public Companies Council (NPCC).
To bring equilibrium between startups and policymakers, the forum has introduced a team with expertise in public policy, taxation, legal affairs, communication, policy research, and marketing.
Praising the initiative, Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry said, “Our startups are driving transformative change by democratizing business and converting job seekers into job creators.
We are glad to see many founders joining the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), which should reinforce India’s global leadership in the new-age economy. The forum should play a pivotal role in India’s journey to become Viksit Bharat by 2047 under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.”
“India has become one of the most attractive global hubs for innovation thanks to the government’s steadfast focus on catalyzing the startup ecosystem and the macroeconomic stability provided by our world-class regulators.
It’s a privilege to bring together a group of new-age nation-builders keen to engage in constructive collaboration with government and regulators and drive impactful change,” said Kohli, President and CEO of the forum in a statement.
