Salesforce India CEO and Chairperson, Arundhati Bhattacharya, has been conferred the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honours. The award was conferred by the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, during a prestigious ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, in the presence of distinguished leaders and dignitaries.

The award recognises her outstanding contributions to trade and industry and her transformative leadership across India’s banking and technology sectors. Her leadership journey, marked by bold reforms, digital transformation, and inclusive growth, has been instrumental in reshaping how institutions adapt to change and embrace innovation.

A former Chairperson of the State Bank of India (SBI), Ms. Bhattacharya broke multiple glass ceilings by becoming the first woman to head the country’s largest public sector bank in its 200-year history. Her tenure at SBI was defined by digital modernization, workforce transformation, and a strong push towards customer-centric banking.

Since taking the helm at Salesforce India, Ms. Bhattacharya has continued her legacy of innovation and leadership. Under her guidance, Salesforce has significantly expanded its presence in India—accelerating digital transformation for businesses across sectors, investing in local talent development, and aligning business goals with sustainable and inclusive growth.

Upon receiving the Padma Shri, Ms. Bhattacharya shared her gratitude through an emotional post on LinkedIn, stating, “Yesterday was a truly humbling and unforgettable moment — receiving the Padma Shri from the Honourable President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. To be recognised with one of the nation's highest civilian honours is a privilege in itself; to receive it from a trailblazing woman leader makes it even more special and inspiring.”

“Standing there, I was reminded once again that every step of this journey has been possible only because of the encouragement, partnership, and belief of so many around me — my family, colleagues, mentors, and friends. I am filled with gratitude and a renewed commitment to continue contributing meaningfully to our industry, to technology, and to the community around us.”

This award is a moment of collective pride for Salesforce and a celebration of the vision, resilience, and impact that Arundhati Bhattacharya continues to bring to India’s evolving digital economy.
