Apple unveiled “Apple Intelligence” on Monday at the WWDC event. A new initiative to stay competitive with tech rivals moving forward in adopting Artificial Intelligence technology. This marks a partnership between Apple and OpenAI to incorporate Apple devices iPhones and iPads to Macs and Apple Watches with a suite of the latest AI features.
Pressure on Apple
Apple has been constantly under pressure to open up its AI strategy ever since Microsoft and Google launched their products one after another.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, while opening a yearly worldwide Developers Conference in California said that the latest move is capable enough to take the user experience to another level.
While addressing the proceedings, OpenAI chief Sam Altman posted on his social media handle X: very happy to be partnering with Apple to integrate ChatGPT into their devices later this year! think you will really like it.”
The new Apple Intelligence will be clubbed with the latest Operating System iOS 18. Also, Apple executives revealed that privacy safeguards will also come built-in alongside Apple Intelligence to make Siri's digital assistance smarter.
The Biggest Challenge
Ever since ChatGPT was launched, this has put significant pressure on tech companies to leverage their AI technologies to enhance their products. The same is the challenge with Apple – how to infuse its AI technologies into its product line.
Particularly, with Apple Intelligence, users can create emojis of their style based on daily chat descriptions or can create a concise summary from the mailbox. Users can command the smart assistance Siri through both voice and writing instructions.
At the WWDC event, the announcement of the iPhone 16 release was also made.
Cook had previously signalled his commitment to AI by incorporating superior AI-ready chips in the MacBook and iPad launches earlier this year.
