Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is making a major push into India’s rapidly expanding AI infrastructure ecosystem, with its subsidiary HyperVault securing 264 acres of land in Hyderabad to develop a large-scale AI data center campus with capacity of up to 1GW. The project, backed by an investment of up to ₹70,000 crore from HyperVault and its partners, is set to become one of the largest dedicated AI infrastructure developments in India.

The Hyderabad campus will be purpose-built to support frontier AI companies, hyperscalers and other customers running increasingly compute-intensive workloads. The development will be rolled out in phases, with capacity additions aligned with customer demand and evolving AI technology requirements.

Summary

Built for High-Density AI Workloads

Unlike conventional data center facilities, the campus is being designed specifically around the infrastructure demands of advanced AI workloads. It will support high-density GPU deployments for AI training, inference and other advanced computing applications.

Liquid-cooled infrastructure will play a key role in supporting these high-density deployments, as AI systems require significantly greater computing power and generate higher thermal loads than many traditional enterprise workloads.

The scale of the planned campus reflects the rapidly growing infrastructure requirements accompanying the expansion of generative and agentic AI, as hyperscalers and AI companies increasingly require dedicated environments capable of supporting large-scale compute.

₹70,000 Crore Investment to Build AI Infrastructure

HyperVault and its partners are expected to invest up to ₹70,000 crore to develop and manage the infrastructure. The investment is expected to create opportunities across the wider data center ecosystem, including power generation and distribution, cooling, networking, construction, engineering and facility operations. The project is also expected to generate several thousand direct and indirect jobs in the region as development progresses.

Green Energy and Water-Neutral Design

Sustainability is being incorporated into the planned campus through the use of green energy and water-neutral design principles. This is particularly significant as the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure is increasing demand for both electricity and cooling resources.

By integrating these considerations into the campus design, HyperVault aims to develop infrastructure capable of supporting large-scale AI workloads while addressing the resource requirements associated with high-density computing.

Hyderabad Emerges as an AI Infrastructure Hub

The project further strengthens Hyderabad and Telangana’s position as an important destination for AI and advanced digital infrastructure investments. Beyond the data center campus, the development is expected to create a wider ecosystem impact across infrastructure, engineering, technology and operations.

At full build-out, the 1GW campus is expected to rank among India’s largest and most advanced AI infrastructure facilities. Its phased development will allow HyperVault to scale capacity alongside demand from hyperscalers and frontier AI companies.

The project also highlights a broader shift in India’s data center market, where AI is driving demand for significantly higher compute density, specialised cooling and large-scale power infrastructure. With up to ₹70,000 crore earmarked for the development, TCS’ HyperVault is positioning Hyderabad as a major node in the infrastructure supporting India’s next phase of AI growth.
