Tata Technologies and RV College of Engineering (RVCE), Bengaluru, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation & Training (CIIIT) on the RVCE campus. The collaboration, the first of its kind in southern India, aims to create a new benchmark in industry-academia engagement by equipping students with skills aligned to smart manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.

As part of this transformative initiative, Tata Technologies has pledged approximately ₹50 crore, while the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust (RSST), which governs RVCE, has committed around ₹10 crore to develop the state-of-the-art training center. This combined investment underscores the deep commitment of both institutions toward nurturing a technically proficient and future-ready workforce.

The newly launched CIIIT is furnished with cutting-edge industrial infrastructure, including advanced hardware, smart manufacturing tools, and specialized laboratories. The center is designed to bridge the divide between classroom theory and practical industrial application by offering immersive, hands-on training. It will serve as a sustainable skill development hub, offering long-term benefits to students, faculty, and regional industries through continuous training programs, start-up incubation, and mentorship opportunities for young innovators.

In line with its mission, CIIIT will provide experiential learning through integrated classroom teaching, e-learning platforms, industry-relevant lab training, and real-time assessments. The center aims to produce a new generation of engineers, technicians, and skilled operators who are immediately deployable into modern industrial environments. It will also support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by supplying a steady stream of industry-ready professionals.

Activities such as guest lectures, expert seminars, and technical workshops will further strengthen the industry-academia ecosystem and stimulate innovation.

The MoU signing ceremony was graced by Dr. M. P. Shyam, President of RSST; Dr. A. V. S. Murthy, Hon. Secretary, RSST; D. P. Nagaraj, Joint Secretary, RSST; Dr. K. N. Subramanya, Principal, RVCE; Dr. K. S. Geetha, Vice Principal, RVCE; and several trustees and faculty members. From Tata Technologies, dignitaries included Shri Sushil Kumar, Global Head; Shri Pawan Bhageria, President; Shri Prashant H, Program Director; Sunil Mahadikar and Prashant Handigund. Industry leaders such as Shri Deelip Menezes, MD, 3D Systems, USA; Shri Rajesh Raghavan, COO, Yaskawa, Japan; and Shri Harish B, CEO of ACE Micromatic were also present.

Speaking at the event, Dr. K. N. Subramanya, Principal, RVCE, said,“The Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation & Training (CIIIT) at RVCE represents a transformative ecosystem aimed at bridging academia and industry. It empowers engineering students with hands-on exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies, supports school dropouts and rural youth with vocational training, and nurtures startups through incubation and mentorship. The center also assists MSMEs with technological support and serves as a talent development hub for large industries. Through community-driven projects, CIIIT fosters inclusive growth, skill development, and social responsibility. This initiative is a beacon of innovation and impact, promoting academic excellence, employability, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development across all sectors of society”.

Dr. M. P. Shyam, President, RSST, remarked, “It is a proud moment as RV College of Engineering signs an MoU with Tata Technologies, marking a significant step toward innovation-led education. This partnership aims to establish the Center for Invention, Innovation, Incubation, and Training (CIIIT), bridging academic learning with real-world industrial applications. The collaboration promises hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies, empowering students to address complex challenges. With Tata Technologies’ expertise and RVCE’s academic strength, this initiative fosters a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Heartfelt thanks to all dignitaries and faculty whose support makes this vision possible. Together, we shape a transformative future for engineering.

Shri Sushil Kumar and Shri Pawan Bhageria from Tata Technologies reiterated the company’s commitment to transforming technical education and strengthening India’s position in global smart manufacturing. They emphasized the need for academia and industry to co-create talent pathways that lead to economic growth and technological innovation.  The center will also integrate industry-aligned certifications and training modules into the academic curriculum, ensuring that RVCE graduates are not only theoretically sound but also practically prepared for the technological challenges of tomorrow.

This collaboration between Tata Technologies and RVCE marks a landmark step in reshaping engineering education in India, establishing a strong, scalable, and sustainable model for industry-academia partnerships, and empowering students with the knowledge, skills, and innovation mindset required to lead in the 21st-century workforce.
