Kyndryl recently launched its People Readiness Report 2025, exploring how enterprises worldwide are aligning their workforce strategies with the rise of AI. The report highlights that while adoption is high, workforce preparedness remains a critical gap.

In India, 97% of organizations have implemented AI, 95% have set up governance frameworks, and 72% are focused on upskilling their existing talent over hiring externally. The study also explores the importance of embedding AI into core business functions through a combination of skills, trust, and cultural transformation.

The findings of the study have been categorized by key sectors as well. Please find below some key insights related to the telecommunications sector:

  • AI adoption is nearly universal in the telecom sector, with 97% of organizations using it across various functions, slightly above the global average.

  • However, 78% of leaders believe their workforce is not yet ready to fully leverage AI, pointing to a significant readiness gap despite high adoption.

  • Employee sentiment is mixed. While 66% are embracing AI, 25% remain resistant, and 53% of leaders cite fears of job displacement as a key barrier to engagement.

  • Despite these challenges, 70% of telecom organizations are using AI to drive growth, and 24% are embedding it into customer-facing products, signalling a strong push toward innovation.
