The technology company IBM and semiconductor manufacturer firm Intel collaborate to deploy Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerators on IBM Cloud as a service. This offering is anticipated to be accessible in early 2025, aiming to assist enterprises scaling more cost-effective AI, while focusing on security and resilience. This will also extend support to Gaudi 3 in IBM's data platform and watsonx AI. Being the foremost Cloud service provider to adopt Gaudi 3, IBM’s offerings will be ready for use in on-premise and hybrid environments.

“Unlocking the full potential of AI requires an open and collaborative ecosystem that provides customers with choice and accessible solutions,” stated Justin Hotard, Executive VP and GM of Intel Data Center & AI. “By integrating Gaudi 3 AI Accelerators and Xeon CPUs with IBM Cloud, we are creating new AI capabilities and meeting the demand for affordable, secure, and innovative AI computing solutions.”

While generative AI can significantly accelerate transformation, the necessary computing power highlights the noteworthiness of availability, energy efficiency, performance, security, and cost as burning priorities for enterprises. This collaboration aims to reduce the ownership cost for leveraging and scaling AI for enhanced overall performance. Gaudi 3 is combined with 5th Gen Xeon and enhanced enterprise AI workloads in datacentres and the cloud, offering customers increased visibility and control over the software stack. This makes it easy to manage applications and workload.

“IBM is committed to helping our clients drive AI and hybrid cloud innovation by offering solutions to meet their business needs. Our dedication to security and resiliency with IBM Cloud has helped fuel IBM’s hybrid cloud and AI strategy for our enterprise clients,” stated Alan Peacock, GM, IBM Cloud. “Leveraging Intel's Gaudi 3 accelerators on IBM Cloud will provide our clients access to a flexible enterprise AI solution that aims to optimise cost performance. We are unlocking potential new AI business opportunities, designed for clients to more cost effectively test, innovate and deploy AI inferencing solutions.”
