Dixon Technologies has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government to establish a state-of-the-art laptop manufacturing facility in the state The move aligns with the vision created by public-private strategic partnership to boost India’s manufacturing sector. The agreement, valued at ₹1,000 crore, was made on April 9, 2025, during a MoU signing ceremony held at the State Secretariat in Chennai, according to Economic Times.
The signing ceremony was graced by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Industries Minister T.R.B. Rajaa. The senior executives from Dixon Technologies marked their presence under the leadership of Executive Chairman Sunil Vachani and VC (Vice President) Prithvi Vachani and exchanged papers with Darez Ahamed, Managing Director and CEO of Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state’s investment promotion agency.
According to the media reports, the MoU outlines the plans to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing unit at the IndoSpace Industrial Park in Oragadam, near Chennai, for the production of laptops and all-in-one personal computers, aligning with India’s broader push toward becoming a global hub for electronics manufacturing.
The proposed investment plan is not only a strategic expansion for the company, Dixon, but also serves as a significant employment generator. The facility is expected to create approximately 5,000 direct jobs, contributing towards the socio-economic development of the region.
This partnership underlines Tamil Nadu’s growth as a destination for large-scale electronics manufacturing and reflects Dixon Technologies’ commitment to strengthening domestic production capabilities under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. With this investment, Dixon aims to further come at the global front of electronics supply chain and meet the increasing demand for IT hardware both domestically and internationally.
